Kentucky 2-Year-Old Accidentally Killed by Brother

Featured Replies

Why charge them now. No amount of jail time is = to losing their 2yr old. It was a horrible accident and parental neglect on their part. Parental neglect happens every day.

If their 2 year old (or 5 year old) were that important to them don't you think they'd make sure the gun was unloaded and stored properly? Heck, when my son was 2 he was a sleep walker. I used to take the knobs off the stove so he couldn't turn the burners on. Parents who endanger the lives of their children receive no sympathy from me. A loaded gun in a corner with no supervision....absolutely no excuse.

That is why! As I stated in my last post. Yes, they lost a 2 year old, but the 2 year old lost her life, and the negligent parent(s) live on. Until parents are held accountabe this type of stuff will keep happening. People, including parents, need to think first!

I must be a moron then. My son got his first gun when he was 5. A cricket .22 rifle. I never kept it in a corner. I never had it out of the safe unless he and I were together headed to the range. this one is on the parents, no doubt.
The bold seperate you from this the parent in question.

Im sure their life is hell right now and in the next few days will be worse. So what do you think should happen to them. This isnt parents who allowed this or wanted this to happen.

HMMM. abortion DR who kills live babies is free while an outrage on this. Only in America.

Both of my sons have owned guns since they were 5. But the gun was locked up or kept out of sight or reach of them. Rule in my house, my boys can touch, shoot, or look at any gun I own at any time with ME!!!! I am also brutal about safety. Both of my sons have got a whippin while hunting over a misplaced muzzle or careless attitude. Its not for everyone but age to me is a number if supervised correctly and safely by an adult.

I agree that their life is hell right now, they THEY are the reason their little 2 year old girl is dead. I am not sure what they need to serve, but we can't allow parents to get away with this anymore.

I disagree with the last part, I say they did allow it to happen.

So in your disagreement with the last part. Do parents allow their kids to get killed in a car since they got them one and left gas in it.

Funny how most want these parent punished but it is OK if a pit bull kills a kid, just a tragedy from an animal.

Like it or not, it is their negligence that allowed this to happen. If they had been responsible (Keeping the gun unloaded and locked away), their child would be alive.

Apples to anchovies.

A driver has to be 16 or older and passed the required education courses to receive the license to drive. The owner of the license is responsible.

A five year old has not had that kind of responsibility nor is he/she old enough for that responsibility. Therefore the parent must shoulder that burden and is responsible by keeping these items out of the 5 year old's unsupervised access.

PLEASE stick to the topic, you're not making any sense, lol. When was the last time a 5 year old was allowed to drive a car by their parents, and killed someone on top of it?

At the driving age, in almost all cases it's the kids fault if something happens with a gun.

BIG BIG difference. If the parents gave a gassed up car to a 10 year old and he/she got killed in it they yes the parents should be punished. If it's a licensed driver then no they shouldn't. If this gun was given as a gift to an 18 year old I would feel quite differently about punishing the parents.

And FWIW if a kid is maimed or killed by a pit bull then I am all for fully investigating how the dog was maintained by the owners and if they are found to have carelessly or negligently cause the harm then I'm all for prosecuting them.

And I'm still going to side with the anti-gun crowd here in my belief that a 5 year old is to young to own a gun or to even be told that they own a gun regardless of how well monitored they are.

I grew up my whole life with a loaded rifle and shotgun right by the front door, could have grabbed it at any time, but I never shot anyone with them. I never misused them. I was taught right from wrong about firearms.

not true, anyone, any age can technically drive a car, having a license or not means nothing.

What if the 10 year old just grabs the keys, hops in the car and takes off? should parents be charged because they didnt lock up their keys?
