I know, I know...scooters are ridiculous looking, and the purple paint job doesn't help with things, but the gas mileage is unbeatable!

There is a guy with a moped/scooter that lives in my apartment building. He takes up an entire parking space with it, and it's usually one of the closest ones to the door. I wouldn't really care, except for the fact that by the time I get home every evening (between 6 and 6:30), I have to park across the lot from my actual building. So because this guy is a loser without a job, I have to see his stupid moped taking up premium parking.

 

One of these days, I'm going to get a buddies help and carry the darned thing and put it in front of his door.

Honest question, Guru...in your police days, would you have ticketed this? I know he's not parking in a designated space, but he's not really obstructing the space a handicap driver/passenger would need to get in or out of a vehicle.

Question, what if someone had a van/wheelchair etc. and needed all that space to negotiate in and out of the vehicle?

 

I don't think there is any gray area with handicapped parking violations, I think you max them all out.

We have a guy that drives a red one down here in Irvine. He's an older guy, 50's-60's and has a woman that rides on the back with him and when people get behind him they best be prepared to drive about 15 MPH on the highway because that's about as fast as he goes....It's ridiculous...I could understand coming across a bridge but all the way through town when you have sidewalks?

I think common sense would be the protocol and and something parked on the sidewalk would be a whole other kettle of fish that the police may or may not have jurisdiction over. In short, the business would probably have to take action on that one because the sidewalk in front of a building is most likely private property owned by the business.
