March 13, 201313 yr Anyone expecting a quick return to the Patriots for wide receiver Wes Welker appears to be in for some disappointment. On the heels of word that the Patriots and Welker were “miles apart” in their negotiations on a new contract comes a report from Albert Breer of the NFL Network that offers more evidence that Welker could be shuffling off down the road to another team. After receiving an offer that was “substantially lower than expected,” Breer reports that Welker “is seriously considering bolting” the Patriots and has started looking at offers from other teams. March 13, 201313 yr Anyone else feel like Wes better sign on with the Pats before they throw $6 mil a year at Amendola and Wes ends up taking a similar deal to play in Tampa or Cleveland or some other place where his career will go to die?
March 13, 201313 yr Author Come on down to Houston, we would love to have another offense weapon on the team!!!
March 13, 201313 yr Welker may be headed to the Broncos. Deal could be finished as early as tonight. Stay tuned.
March 13, 201313 yr I think the Broncos are a good fit for Welker if he leaves the Pats. I think so too. Figured them to be one of only 3 or 4 teams he'd consider.
March 13, 201313 yr Just got an update on my phone that Welker and Denver have agreed to terms. Good fit!
March 13, 201313 yr Okay, Peyton Manning is a little better than Tampa or Cleveland. I am surprised New England would not have made a similar offer to keep him.
March 13, 201313 yr Wes Welker lands a two-year, $12 million deal from the Broncos. As a fan of both Welker and Manning I like the deal.
March 13, 201313 yr In a corresponding move, Pats sign Amendola to a 5 year deal. Basically a younger version of Welker...
March 14, 201313 yr In a corresponding move, Pats sign Amendola to a 5 year deal. Basically a younger version of Welker... Amzing they both were Red Raiders with similar career paths.
March 14, 201313 yr Person close to Brady ?enraged? Patriots let Welker go | ProFootballTalk I would say so with good reason; the Patriots have not been the same team they were previously for a while now. Welker may not have a lot longer to go, but was a huge part of their offense. IMO, New England's offense has taken a big step down without him.
