Who likes the taste of alcoholic beverages?

Featured Replies

The Chicago Bulls/alcohol and bourbon threads got me to thinking. Who actually likes the taste of alcoholic drinks? I mean, who picks up a beer or a shot of bourbon for the fist time at 14, 15 years old or whatever age, takes a swig and thinks "gee, that tastes really good, I want another".? Does anybody? I mean, is the taste of an alcohol contaning beverage (beer, wine, liquor) an aquired taste for everyone or are some people drawn to the taste? Not talking overly sweet mixed drinks here because they can almost totally mask the alcohol taste if dome correctly.

Don't get me wrong, I have drank my share of alcohol over the years mostly when in my early to mid 20's...drank far more than I should have in those days I'm sure...but in all of my years, even today, when I partake of an adult beverage I would have to say I do not "like" the taste of it or find it all that pleasant, I only tolarate the taste at best. Why would I drink an adult beverage then you might ask? Well a beer or two, or, my prefered adult beverage a hard apple cider can help me relax, I like to drink one or two maybe when I get home after a round of golf if my back and/or knee is stiff/sore, using them to wash down a couple of ibuprofin. Or when in a social setting might have one or two with everyone else.

When I read the bourbon thread and guys were talking about their fav bourbon, enjoying a good pour sitting back sipping it...I'm thinking...yuck...how?:yuck: Not judging, as I said I "enjoy" an adult beverage now and again, just wondering how one comes about to enjoy the taste of their prefered choice of drink.

I actually like the taste of Bud Light and Miller Lite

In my best Arnold Horshack voice,

Ooh ooh, Mr. Kotter! Me!"

Absolutely. I love the taste of a good beer, specifically a good Amber or Porter.

Also really like a good glass of bourbon, although I don't partake as much as I'd like.

Absolutely.

An only slightly cooled, thick stout on a cold winter's night...

A spring evening with citrus-hinted pale ale...

A hot summer's day with an ice cold American lager...

Fantastic.

Sure some alcohol tastes good. A cold beer tastes good. Bourbon, yes. Scotch, on the other hand, is not for the taste. Scotch is for those who have given up hope.

Yep. Miller Lite, Bourbon, and of course....good ole 'shine.

I like the taste as much as the next person, but I do think it is an acquired taste. I think most people when they first start drinking muscle down swill or drink the fruity, sugary mixtures. Then they eventually taste something that's good and realize the distinction and start to enjoy the taste.

Wine...that's the only one I actually "like" the taste of. Oh...and Guiness at the right temp.

I pretty much like them all.

Beer - most all kinds.

Wine - I prefer reds, but I also drink some whites, and I love port.

Bourbon, scotch, Irish whiskey, Candian whiskey, tequilla, brandy, and cognac. These I typically drink neat.

Gin - I prefer a dirty martini.

Vodka - Bloody Marys and greyhounds.

And, oh yes, I love me some shine.

Agreed on scotch taste. Doesn't do it for me.
