Does Dave Wirth want out of CovCath?

Yes - and my first reply on this entire thread was to The Guru's initial post where he asked, "...can anyone deny or confirm?" I thought he was looking for an honest answer which was given by me straight from the coaches mouth. Guess that wasn't the right one.

I applaud you for going to the Coach and then posting what he told you. As far as I am concerned you get an A+ in Effort but a D in Street Smarts.

So when you begin a thread with a rumor and ask for confirmation or denial- then someone gives you an answer -to which you respond "keep drinking the blue kool-aid". What do expect to be the response? I like this site because it seems to focus on Nky, but insulting your paying members doesn't seem too street smart.

Or maybe I started a thread with a fact to see if the Coach in question was stupid enough to lie about it...

Is Dave going to be at the Nike Clinic this weekend, Maybe I will sit him and Chuck down together and figure it all out.

Guru,

I'm left guessing how your credible source(s) would have information on three unrelated opportunities (Dixie, LaSalle, Boone) unless it's coming from DW himself. If not, it seems like there should be a modicum of professional privacy or confidentiallity to prevent this information from being leaked, especially to an owner of an opinion board. Perhaps if you would make public a list of all of the candidates that have applied it may pacify the impression that you or the provider of this information are biased or have an agenda.

I have no idea of the veracity of the story; however, if he does leave then I believe that it is just a financial decision. Coach Wirth appreciates the support and respect of the CCH community, and he seems to enjoy being of part of the school.

I think you nailed it slug. Coach Wirth has interest in other jobs and for a variety of reasons some of the people armed with that information feel compelled to share it so they seek me out.

No one really cares when the assistant from so and so applies for a job but when a big time head coach shows an interest in other jobs that is news.

So, coming full circle, maybe you can start an opinion board and discuss the boring stuff and I will stick to the interesting stuff.

Apparently you got the impression that I was calling you out for sharing this.

Nope, wasn't aiming in your direction. This is your livelihood, it is discussion-worthy, and you use your position of power to your advantage. I appreciate the challenge; but you do this well, and I do what I do well.

First, I edited your post so that the quote appeared correctly but didn't change any words.

I don't necessarily think you are calling me out but I know some of you out there want to and I am letting everyone know I am all in on this one.

And thanks for the compliment slug!

What is wrong with Wirth applying for other jobs? Nothing wrong with testing the market and seeing if there is anything out there that is a better fit for you and your family.

I don't think any/many CCH supporters that would disagree with you. Everyone knows that it is a financial sacrifice for all teachers, coaches and staff that are involved with parochial education in Northern Kentucky. He needs to do what he feels is necessary or best for his family. Best of luck to him.

My limited life experience has taught me that when there is smoke, there is usually fire. I have no idea if Coach Wirth applied somewhere else or not, but I wouldn't think Guru is making it up either. What would the motive be?

Coach Wirth has every right to test the waters at other institutions. There may be financial opportunities or retirement perks available outside Park Hills that Cov. Cath. simply cannot match. In my opinion nearly everyone would support the efficacy of Coach taking whatever steps he deems necessary to provide for his family.

What I think some may take issue with is the matter morphing into "the Park Hills mafia is chasing him out". Coach Wirth enjoys very solid support. Colonel Nation would be very disappointed to see him go but would understand....(see Rodenberg, John).

What is wrong with it, you ask? I can't say it's wrong, but on some level it just bothers me when we disclose that coaches have applied elsewhere. We ask kids to believe and buy into their coaches and I think it hurts the chances of that happening when we post these types of threads and the coach doesn't get the job(s) he applied for and stays. I honestly think it hurts a coach's ability to lead when his players read that he applied for several jobs and in all likelihood would have left if he'd have gotten the job.

Yeah, I can appreciate the likely response from some that he shouldn't have applied then. But you can't lay that on a coach and then say there is nothing wrong with a coach seeing if there is a better fit for him and his family.

Adults generally understand a coach trying to better his/his family's situation; teenagers often do not. They see a coach that applied to coach somewhere else as disloyal and not being committed to them at the same time he is asking them to be committed to him and his program.

It's the Ru's site and he is obviously free to do what he wants, but as much as I love him, I don't agree with these types of threads any more than I agree with threads involving injuries to players; newsworthy or not.

Other than satiating our curiosity, what good comes out of these types of threads? Maybe there is something, but I honestly don't know what it would be.
