Highlands 29 Holy Cross 26

Both teams battle hard in the first half and Holy Cross goes into the locker room with 1 point lead at 15 to 14. They come out of the locker room and go on a 9 to 0 run to stretch the lead to 24 to 14 about midway through the 3rd quarter. That is when the Birds clamp down defensively and hold the Indians to 2 points the final 9+ minutes of the game and go on to win.

1st quarter: Neither team shot well and both were on the charity line quite a bit with a total of 8 fouls called in the 1st quarter with CovCath leading by a score of 8-4 and I believe they made 5 of their 8 points via free throws

2nd quarter: Each team shot better but still too many fouls were made to allow either team to get into a flow of the game. A total of 15 fouls were called in the 1st half with the score favoring CovCath 18-16.

3rd quarter: Neither team lighting it up but Will Heppler finally comes into the game and scores a couple for the Colonels.

4th quarter: CovCath starts making some baskets and puts on a press on Cooper, who seems to get a bit rattled and starts to make turnovers, which the Colonels convert into easy baskets.

Was impressed with two Cooper players: #5 Flesher the kid can shoot the rock and #42 Watson the young man has some size to him abut some soft hands!

CovCath will play Ryle at CovCath but I am not at all sure of the time, except it is the 2nd of the three games being played at CovCath on Wednesday.

Other than the games already posted, the following teams won but I have no score or detail about the games.

Winners:Besides CovCath, Ryle, Holmes and Highlands which have accounts of their games listed above,

Dixie over Walton, , Boone over Newport, Conner over Beechwood.

Just got a text saying the NewCath/Holmes game was moved to Wed. at 8:00, an idea why????

Anybody going to fill us in on the reason for the time change.

I have no idea why, but you do realize that there has been a slew of cancellations up until today, so that might have something to do with it. :idunno:

Thanks for the recap! :thumb:

Nice team win for the Birds in a gAme where points were hard to come by. JOAT hit it on the head with the defense late in the game. It would have been easy to throw in the towel after the HC run. Good luck to them tonight!!!

Joe Fredrick and I will be broadcasting tonight’s Freshman tournament game against Ryle on CovCath Internet Radio at 6:45. Please pass on the link to anyone that may want to tune in that is either out of town or cannot make the game. There is also an option to listen on a mobile phone or iPad by clicking on the “Switch View to Mobile” link on the broadcast page. Attached is the link to the games. We’ll be receiving emails at [email protected]. Thanks so much for listening and supporting the Freshman on their quest for the Championship! Go Colonels!! Click here for the game.

Has this tourney always been played at Cov Cath?

TOG .. that link has both CovCath/Ryle and Holmes/NCC playing tonight Feb 6 at 6:45. Thoughts?

LB13 said the game was moved back to 8:00 with no explanation? Walter do you know why the game was pushed back?

Which game is at 8 and which is 6:45?
