Holmes 58 NCC 48

NCC.... 08-07-19-14:48

Holmes 14-12-14-18:58

Tail of this game is real easy to see.

Holmes 36 points from the floor

NCC 36 points from the floor

Holmes 6 points from beyond the arch

NCC 6 points from beyond the arch

Holmes 16/25 from the charity line

NCC 6/16 from the charity line

Now not at all saying that NCC lost the game by not getting free throws attempts but indeed by missing so many free throw attempts.

Has this tourney always been played at Cov Cath?

Did you happen to read the entire thread? See post #10 for the history of the tourney!

The Freshman Regional Tournament originally began in the early 1960’s. Some of the hosts of the tournament were Ockerman Junior High School, Newport Catholic (now NCC), and Conner High School. The tournament moved to Covington Catholic in 1970, and has remained since that time.

1st quarter

Was a give and take 1st quarter as both team fought hard but Schrand hit a trey to give CovCath the lead at the end of the 1st quarter. 9-8

2nd quarter

Found Heppler making shots but while it was Heppler for CovCath it was the "team" for Ryle as the half ended tied. 22-22.

3rd quarter

CovCath gets a lead then Ryle comes storming back, Ryle is just out hustling the Colonels. 29-27 CovCath

4th quarter

Ryle is still out hustling CovCath tonight and is taking the game over but Sweeney with just a seconds or so on the clock hits a two point shot to send the game into OT!

Over Time

CovCath start out on top with a run and gets up six with 32.7 seconds left on the clock and holds on to the win.

1st quarter

Simon Kenton is hitting their shots as is HHS. Good 1st quarter by both squads with the score after the 1st quarter 12-10 SK

2nd quarter

Not as well played as the 1st quarter, as both teams had too many turnovers. SK made a last second jump shot to take a 18-17 lead going into the half.

3rd quarter

Sk starting to move away but each time when you think SK is going to start putting the game away HHS comes back to keep the score close. 27-23 at the end of the 3rd quarter

4th quarter

HHS is starting to give SK the ball back by unforced turnovers and SK is making HHS pay for it with easy baskets. Final score 42-25 Simon Kenton

The big boy #55 Hebel is big and smooth under the hoop...

Anybody going to fill us in on the reason for the time change.

The reason the game was move Holmes emailed NCC and said they have a JV tournament game at 6 pm wed can we move to 8 pm at Holmes NCC said no so then Holmes emails the Cov Cath people and they switch the two games so their players who start and play at both levels can make both games.

I saw post #82. I also saw you post a link to the bracket in #83. I guess what I should have said was "two games are scheduled AT THE SAME TIME AT THE SAME LOCATION .. is anyone aware of that!". Sorry for MY MISTAKE. :madman:

You need to understand the number of games that have been cancelled and have had to be rescheduled not just once but twice, not an easy task to preform.

You also need to understand that everyone that is associated with running this tourney are volunteers and have other real jobs to deal with as I am sure you do. So yes a mistake was made but each team knew what was going on and that is the first priority!

I have spoken with those in charge to make certain that the brackets are correct but if you have a real concern, please contact the coach of your team to double check the times.

Who won between Holmes and NC?

From the "it's easy to coach from the stands" section, I wonder if the Ryle coach thought about fouling on the last play in regulation. They had 3 fouls for the half.

Regardless, I give him and his team full props for their game. CCH dominated them in size. It looked like a 9th grade team against a 7th grade teams at size. However, Ryle was really good at their motion offense resulting in both shots at the rim and 3s. Fun to watch.

Thought the same thing Clyde....

BTW the 3pt shot that Lenhof made just after CovCath Coach Stevens called for a time out, that would have given CovCath a 1 point lead with 2 seconds on the clock, reminded me of the the time Coach L called a TO just as (if I remember correctly Bovard) canned a trey in the Sweet Sixteen in believe 2006!
