Simon Kenton 40 Cov Cath 39. FINAL!

Racke gets fouled as time expires, goes to the line with no time on the clock and sinks two to win the game.

Good for that young man, what a moment.

That kid, those shots, that opponent, in that gym -- you can't make this stuff up. Awesome.

Don't know the kid from Adam, but what a pressure packed situation for him. Must have been a great game.

A true gamer! I'd have bet the farm those ft's were going down. A slow first half, followed by a spectacular second. Congrats to Jeff Schraffenberger, Brad Walker and the entire Simon Kenton freshman team on an outstanding season and Regional Championship! Jeff is an outstanding coach and deserves all the accolades he and his team have earned.

On the flip side, a devastating loss for Matt Stevens, Steve Sorrell and their freshman Colonels. They fought back and deserved to win, too. Good news for them is that they will be in more regional finals and will win their share of them.

Truly a classy event! I absolutely love the pageantry (banners, all tournament team, etc.) but I especially love that freshman basketball is put on a big stage for kids who work for three months on making a lasting memory.

CovCath.......06-13-09-11:39

Simon Kenton12-07-13-08:40

1st quarter:

Four straight turn overs for CovCath and Walker and Fries are having a easy time of it for SK and take a 12-06 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.

2nd quarter:

It's Sweeney and Heppler for CovCath now but SK then goes on a small run before a turn over and CovCath comes back to tie the the game 19-19 at half time.

3rd quarter:

Racke comes out hot and scores four quick points and is taking over for SK. CovCath is trying to take everything inside but CovCath get down by 6 points but makes it only 4 down to end the quarter.

4th quarter:

It's the Racke show for SK as he is shooting, scoring and passing SK

to victory but Flood hits a huge three and it gives CovCath the lead. SK takes the ball out from under the CovCath basket and works for a shot but misses it and there is a scrum for the ball and it's called a jump ball with the possession going to SK with .05 tenths of a second on the clock, CovCath calls time out.

SK takes the ball out of bounds under their basket and gets the ball to Racke who is a outside of the paint as he take the shoot and it's going to be short but in an effort to block the ball a CovCath defender fouls Racke after the shot and Racke is sent to the charity line to win the game. The stripes move everybody off the line as the horn has already gone off and young Mr. Racke sinks both Free Throws to win the game for SK....

What a game!!!!

Scoring for CovCath:

Make sure I'm keeping up. .5 left so it has to be a really fast catch-and-shoot. What do you mean "after the shot?" Had the shot been released and he was still in his follow through ie ball gone but THEN he is fouled before he returns to the ground?

Glad that the tourney will forever bear Jack's name. Well done, CCH.

Not to take anything away from Simon Kenton -- they played an incredible game. Congrats to them. However, I thought that you had to have at least .07 tenths to catch and shoot? The clock showed .05 tenths...?

Anything over .03 you can catch and shoot I believe.

I bet he stays at SK.

Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't.

That's the plan...

IMHO it was a foul (no question about that) but the ball was released, then the foul or at least it looked that way to me. As I said, it was a foul, no question about that but I think (again as you said .5 tenth of a second is fast) it was in the young Colonels followed through, while trying to block the shot, that caused the foul, not in fouling him while shooting.

That's the plan...

If he goes to CCH they will be crazy good with Vonhandorf, himself, and young Gunner Schuh. Gunner shoots lights out!
