Dixie...07-03-06-08: 24

Simon 05-02-07-11: 25

Dixie scoring:

# 1 Ochoa 01

# 3 Schulte 07

#15 Corken 04

#20 Ochs 05

#23 Faeth 06

#35 jones 01

Simon Kenton scoring:

# 2 Fries 10

# 3 Racke 03

#10 Morrison 02

#13 Downs 02

#25 Walker 06

#55 Arrowsmith 02

1st and 2nd quarter

Both teams are playing not to lose instead of trying to win the game and the score at half time proves it by Dixie taking a 10-7 lead....

3rd quarter

Simon Kenton comes out firing and cans some shots while Dixie is struggling on offense and it seems to me at least, that no one on the Dixie teams wants to shoot the ball. Simon Kenton takes a 19-16 lead.

4th quarter

With 8.8 seconds left in the game Dixie is down by 1 point and SK is taking the ball out from under the Dixie basketball! SK enters the ball into play but after a scrum for the ball takes place, SK gets a time out called. Dixie then fouls and send a SK player to the charity for a one and one but the SK players misses but with only 3.4 seconds left Dixie shoots too quickly and from half court Dixie misses the shot to end the game with Simon Kenton moving on to play for the Championship game on Wednesday.

This may be off topic, but it has come up during other BGP conversations so I'm going to revisit an idea -- if it belongs on a separate thread, I understand. So here goes: last year, some of us may remember James "Beetle" Bolden suddenly and unexpectedly getting shut down during a frosh tournament game in which he typically would have dominated. He had been playing and practicing the entire season with the freshman, JV, and varsity teams and there was some speculation that he finally hit the wall. This year, four of the five Holmes freshmen starters have been doing the same -- as has already been noted earlier on this or a related thread, the Holmes-CCH frosh game was rescheduled for 8:00 PM specifically because Arnold, Moore, Green, and Brolley were playing that night at 6:00 PM in a JV tournament game. If we assume that these kids also keep up with their studies, maybe they simply reached mental and physical overload.

I'm not a pediatrician or a psychologist, plus I do not know precisely which schools pursue which policy, but more than one BGP contributor has already questioned whether frosh who play up should, well, simply play up rather than also playing frosh ball all season. I don't have a solid opinion, but given the collective wisdom on this site I am eager to see if this merits discussion.

It reflects poorly on the basketball program and the coaches. The school has plenty of players for all 3 teams.

BTW remember the 1st game of the night on Wednesday will be the JV Finals. This game will feature the Holmes Bulldogs Vs. I haven't a clue! Anyone?

This CCH freshman team is as good if not better than last year's team. With the full complement of players healthy including Heppler and Sweeney, it's hard to imagine them losing in the final game. Had this team had all of these players(healthy) from the beginning of the season , I venture to guess that they would not have lost a game all season.

Tommorrow's game will be a test of the team's desire to cut down the nets. There is no doubt that they have the horses to win. They just need to play witha total desire to win.

The keys to the game will be the good guard play of Lenhoff and Flood. Heppler's post play supplemented by Young's post play should make the team unstoppable. If Sweeney plays like has been all tournament, CCH will be the odds on favorite to win. Strong bench play of Massie , Schrand and Beck will round out the team and most certainly will add the icing necessary to put the championship in the win column.

Go Colonels!!!!!

I believe Boone Co. and Conner played tonight to decide the other team in the JV finals. I do not know who won the game.

Cov Cath vs SK in the finals. Cov Cath is bigger at the big positions but SK is much bigger and stronger at the guards spots. Cov Cath guards don't impress me much and they are going to have to handle the SK pressure. But on the other side SK is not near as big as the Cov Cath big three in the post. Should be a very interesting game.

Don't know the kid from Adam, but what a pressure packed situation for him. Must have been a great game.
