January 4, 201313 yr But isn't this supposed to be all about the kids  Gotta love bowls. When the Sugar Bowl President was talking before he gave the trophy to Charlie Strong, all I could think was "How much money did you get paid for doing next to nothing for the last 11 months?"
January 4, 201313 yr Didn't say it wasn't worth it. Pointing out the UL fan base left the school on the hook for half a million... No way around that......I'll take the results both in attendance, and how the Sugar Bowl has screwed up.

January 4, 201313 yr ^ I think they'll change some policies before next year's Sugar....just a hunch....
January 4, 201313 yr If I didn't get good seats, I wouldn't have bought through the school. I know for a fact that they had many people drop their ticket request (and a non-refundable $50 fee) after they found out they where there seats were. I actually suspect, considering that there was a sudden drop in the number of ticket sales being reported that this group almost accounts for the entire shortfall. Couple their fees with Papa John's donation and the bill isn't so bad.

January 4, 201313 yr What was the TV viewership on the game? It was the only bowl game on TV that night. I know the attendance was the lowest since 1939 (so they are saying). It seemed to me that there was an inordinate number of commercials during the telecast. It may be, however, that there were so many time-consuming drives with no extended stoppages of play that the commercials had to be bunched together after scores, possession changes, etc. Does the Sugar Bowl share in the money from commercials or does it all go to the network? I'm sure that contractually the network is guaranteed a certain number of commercials during a game. Can this be increased on the fly during the game if viewership numbers are low? Can viewership be checked that quickly? TV is calling more and more shots relative to how games are played...which is a bad trend IMO.
January 4, 201313 yr Ugh, I meant 'their' seats, obviously. Stupid typing on a phone. Hate that. I assumed you didn't know the difference
January 4, 201313 yr What was the TV viewership on the game? It was the only bowl game on TV that night. I know the attendance was the lowest since 1939 (so they are saying). It got a 7.2 rating, which is just over 10 million households. That's up about 4 percent over last year's Sugar Bowl. However, it's still down from the Ohio State/Arkansas game two years before which had an 8.4. As for the rest of your post, I don't know how those ads work.
January 4, 201313 yr I'd like to personally give this guy a pat on the back. A Florida player stays to sing his final alma mater of the season all by himself | Dr. Saturday - Yahoo! Sports A Florida player stays to sing his final alma mater of the season all by himself Thu, Jan 3, 2013 12:20 PM EST At the end of Florida victories, the team usually sticks around to sing the alma mater with the band. But after Wednesday’s embarrassing 33-23 loss to Louisville in the Sugar Bowl, most Florida players couldn’t get off the field fast enough while others went to find their friends and family in the stands. But one player stayed to sing his last fight song of the season. Junior linebacker Darrin Kitchens ran over to the band section, held his helmet high and proudly sang the fight song. It didn’t matter that he was the only one standing alone while his other teammates ignored his gesture. According to the participation report, Kitchens never played in the game. Yet he seemed to savor this final moment and I'm sure the band appreciated his participation.
January 4, 201313 yr When was the last time somebody won the Big East outright? Cincinnati in 2008 and 2009
