I've been keeping up with the daily Insanity DVDs from month 1. I actually look forward to it because I know I can manage the 40 minute workout.

I'm pleased that I'm keeping up with my fitmess level, and finding the time each day to do it. But I need to define my next goal that I really want to reach. Then my effort will really increase.

Saturday was good. Didn't go too hard on the swim or bike but I turned it on during the run despite the warmer temperatures. I try to manage my ego now on these longer days with the run so I will run a mile, walk a minute. What is crazy is that I still averaged an 8:10 pace. But with that I eliminate soreness, settle my heart rate, and do not overheat.

Today I started counting calories and dropping sodas again. I downloaded a calorie counting app by My Fitness Pal, heard several good things about it. Plan to work out three times a week. We'll see how it goes.

Anybody had any success with counting calories?

Good Luck!

I have not tried actually counting calories to lose weight. My strategy has been lots of exercise, smaller portions, and healthier choices.

The biggest success for me is exercise, exercise and more exercise.

I started tracking my calories with an app in April 2012. Being the weirdo that I am, I have not missed one day and can tell you every single thing I have put in my body the past 15 months. It keeps me honest.

Portion control will be a big help for me. And with this app I'm using, I'll have to cut down on my portion size to stay under my calorie limit.

I hope I can stick with it like that. How much weight have you lost, if you don't mind me asking?

Well, mine is not about me losing weight. I have dropped 7-8 lbs but that was not really my intent. With the type of training that I do the more regimented I stay the better off I perform. Often times I use it to know that I can eat more. But it does give more of a perspective on what you eat and how much you actually consume.

I haven't updated in a while but I'm down to 227 now. Kind of hit a wall and get get past the 225-230 range. Really need to work on my diet to get past it.

Down to 220 now. Still not really hitting the gym very much. Need to work on that. Amazing what a decent diet can do for you.

I have with My Fitness Pal, it's a nice app. Make it a lot easier to say in a good range everyday.

So have you lost most of your weight just by eating better?

Pretty much. I try to workout at least once a week if not more but it doesn't always happen. Smoothies has been the biggest helper for me IMO.

How do you "use" those?

Big thing for me was getting some greens in my diet. I make them with spinach or kale leaves as well as bananas, Strawberries, blueberries and/or maybe peanut butter. Not always all that together. I will try to replace a meal with it when I can. It's pretty filling.
