Rookie Fitness (Just Do It!)

Featured Replies

I did 3 rounds of this with modifications. (Afterall, it's Rookie Fitness!)

24 Squats

15 push ups

24 step lunges

Then ran up and down the stairs 5 times. It was a challenge but I feel great!

Anyone have a link for proper form for step lunges?

Here's a pretty good one. The biggest thing to watch is when you get tired you will start to "cheat" by not standing all the way up. You end up kind of gliding. Also make sure your knee touches the ground.

I did my strength training this morning, dead lifts and front squats.

This afternoon at crossfit we have this on the agenda...

5 Power Cleans (225#)

400 Meter Run

10 Power Cleans (185#)

400 Meter Run

15 Power Cleans (135#)

400 Meter Run

After that is complete we have a Tabata Row. If you don't know what Tabata is you do 8 rounds of 20 sec of work with 10 sec of rest. So for the row you will row has hard as you can for 20 secs then rest for 10 sec...repeat 7 more times

1:30 would be a pretty good time. I've guys do it in close to an hour and some take over 2 hours. It will end up being around 800 burpees, will all depend on how far you jump.

Some of the guys from my gym did it a year or a couple of years ago with weight vest on.

Masochists. I'd have to do this a mile from the ER...

Thanks for that! I did not know that the width is ok. I always hated to do them because I felt like I was losing my balance.

If I did it a mile from the ER...they'd only have to send the ambulance about 3/4 of a mile to get me. I wouldn't make it far...

For those who have done the Insanity workout did you also follow the nutrition guide? I don't really care for it but I wanted to get opinions on it.

I didn't follow the nutrition guide however I did change my diet considerably.

I used to drink 4-5 Cokes a day, now zero a day.

Used to eat McD's, Wendy's, BK, KFC or whatever at lunch when I was working. Now I will seek out a Kroger Salad and Soup bar.

Used to snack thoughout the night. Now I cut myself off all eating after 7pm.

My only downfall is beer. I'll still drink a few IPA's and stouts which are really heavy.

Hope this helps.

Yeah I've changed my eating habits. I've cut out my snacking throughout the day, so far I've not had any pop for the last week, I've cut down on over eating and portion sizes. I've also been watching my calorie intake.

I think that is the biggest obstacle for people (It has been for me). If you can slowly cut that down you are going to lose weight pretty much not matter what you eat. It's OK to eat fries and cookies sometimes but just don't eat a super size fry and an entire sleeve of thin mints.

Approx. how long is a 500M run? If you went outside about how many blocks?

400M is pretty much a 1/4 mile.

People in the next row are looking at me funny.

Insanity day 2 complete.

I'm watching our 6 month old baby today so she sat in a swing watching and laughing at me.

^

When my daughter was about a year old, I was doing an ab workout on a daily basis. She had seen enough of it that she wanted to work out with me one day. My wife snapped a picture of it. One of my favorite pics ever.
