January 2, 201313 yr You have to do those in the Insanity workouts. I did that program for 30 days back in the Spring & the "Burpees" were a part of that. They called them something else. It brings back bad memories, to be honest. How did Insanity work out for you?
January 2, 201313 yr Great thread idea, hoops5! I posted in the other one, but I have the feeling that everyone just kind of looked at it and said...."well....anyway" and then went on about their business. Here is what I posted: I am at a much different place in fitness than the rest of you, but I'll join in the conversation. During 2012 I lost 50 lbs by using the 17 Day Diet (a very healthy lifestyle change) and walking/hiking and some light work at the gym. Near the end of 2012, I underwent surgery and was diagnosed with endometrial (uterine) cancer after the fact. Since November, I had to reduce my physical activity and change my diet a bit. However, I didn't gain any weight, just didn't lose any more. My goals for 2013 include continuing healthier eating and once I am healed more, get back into my walking/hiking regimine and to kick it up in the gym a little more. I'd like to walk in several events this year (do they do 10K walks or just 5?) I want to continue regaining a healthy lifestyle. It really is addictive and I want to get back at it. I am having to fight the urge to do too much at the moment.
January 2, 201313 yr How did Insanity work out for you? Really well for both my wife and me. She went ahead with the second half of the program where the workouts are much tougher. When she told me the workouts were much tougher, I put a stop to it. It's really, really hard but it works.
January 2, 201313 yr How did Insanity work out for you? The appeal for us with Insanity was that you didn't need any kind of equipment.

January 2, 201313 yr Did you see a change in your body? Lose weight? Get sexier for your bride? Most definitely on the change in body & weight loss. 20 pounds in 30 days. She lost double that at least, but she did the entire 60 days. On the last question, I'm always sexy Clizzy. The ladies have always looked Randy's way, as evidenced below.

January 2, 201313 yr Author TB&G, first and foremost I hope you kick the cancer! I don't know about the 10k walks, but it seems like there are lots of 5ks around. I like your comment about it "being addictive". I'm hope to get to that point myself. Speedy recovery to you so you can get back to doing what you love!
January 2, 201313 yr Anyone tried P90x? I heard it works really well. Some friends have & they saw great success with it. We looked at P90x vs. Insanity & chose the latter because no equipment is needed. Honestly, I think if you do either program you will see results. With the Insanity program you start out with stretching & then a get limbered up workout of about 10 minutes that wore me out. Then you have a little cool down & following that is the main workout of about 20-25 minutes. You get 4 or 5 brief water breaks in there, but for the most part the workout is crazy & you want to punch Shawn-T in the mouth. Then you wind down with stretching again. Average workout for the first 30 days is 40-45 minutes. Another aspect of Insanity that I liked was the very first day of the program you do what's called a Fit Test, which consists of 10 timed exercises. There is one minute per exercise & you count how many repetitions you do in that minute. You do that very same Fit Test two weeks into the program so you can gauge your progress. There were a few exercises where I doubled my reps in just two weeks. I highly recommend it to anyone who is wanting to lose weight, tone their body, or just get in shape. It's brutal but it works.
