January 2, 201313 yr Some friends have & they saw great success with it. We looked at P90x vs. Insanity & chose the latter because no equipment is needed. Honestly, I think if you do either program you will see results. With the Insanity program you start out with stretching & then a get limbered up workout of about 10 minutes that wore me out. Then you have a little cool down & following that is the main workout of about 20-25 minutes. You get 4 or 5 brief water breaks in there, but for the most part the workout is crazy & you want to punch Shawn-T in the mouth. Then you wind down with stretching again. Average workout for the first 30 days is 40-45 minutes. Another aspect of Insanity that I liked was the very first day of the program you do what's called a Fit Test, which consists of 10 timed exercises. There is one minute per exercise & you count how many repetitions you do in that minute. You do that very same Fit Test two weeks into the program so you can gauge your progress. There were a few exercises where I doubled my reps in just two weeks. I highly recommend it to anyone who is wanting to lose weight, tone their body, or just get in shape. It's brutal but it works. From everything I have seen/read plus people I've talked to who did both I would probably lean towards Insanity as well (note: I've never done either).
January 2, 201313 yr This morning I: 30 minutes on my eliptical 3 sets wide grip lat pulls 3 sets narrow grip lat pulls 3 sets shoulder pulls 2 sets dumbell raises 3 sets vertical flies 2 sets hanging leg lifts 200 varying crunches However, I have the Livestrong eliptical and when I do any of the "Lance" programs, I now find I crave performance enhancing substances.

January 2, 201313 yr If you ever feel like doing something insane, try the burpee mile. You do a burpee but instead of jumping up you jump out, like a broad jump. Where you land is where you do your next burpee. You continue until you've gone a mile. I haven't mustered the stupidity to try this one yet.Holy hell...
January 2, 201313 yr Did you see a change in your body? Lose weight? Get sexier for your bride? My wife used it to lose babyweight after our daughter. I did it for a little while. I didn't eat right and just got in better shape. She ate right and went right back to where she was before the baby, and was actually pretty toned. Working at such high levels anaerobically, it has to burn a ton of fat.

January 3, 201313 yr hoops, here's one for you. You can scale back the reps and/or rounds as needed. We did it tonight at my crossfit box. 6 rounds for time 24 squats 24 push ups 24 step lunges 400M run We subbed a 500M row instead of the run, too dang cold.
January 3, 201313 yr Watched a copy of Insanity on YouTube for the fit test so I did that and it about killed me. Haha

January 3, 201313 yr Thanks! What is 6 Rounds for time? Doing each of the movements I listed for the reps I listed is one round. Do 6 rounds and time yourself. Example: do 24 squats, 24 push-ups, 24 lunges, run 400M. That's one round, repeat 6 times with a running clock. Your score is the amount of time it took you to complete all 6 rounds.
January 3, 201313 yr That workout is named Loredo. U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Edwardo Loredo, 34, of Houston, Texas, assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, was killed on June 24, 2010 in Jelewar, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He is survived by his wife, First Sergeant Jennifer Loredo; his daughter, Laura Isabelle; his stepdaughter, Alexis; and his son, Eduardo Enrique.

I've gone through the Insanity program probably about 8 times since I bought it about 3 years ago. Weight when I started - 237 Weight when I ended my 1 round - 215 Got devoted to a nutrition plan on the second go. Weight when I ended my 2 round - 191 Current weight - 210 (took about a month and a half off after doing Tough Mudder). I've also bulked up a bit since my second round. I lift a lot more. I've done Insanity and P90X. I would rate Insanity as the tougher program but not by much.
January 3, 201313 yr Author I am motivated by my 85-yr-old dad. He walks at least a mile EVERY day, even in the bitter cold Wisconsin temps. He told me that sometimes he even jogs part of it! He does sit-ups and push-ups EVERY day, and does light lifting with hand weights. Just Do It!
January 3, 201313 yr To much going on this week at work. Sunday will be my official start to shedding 15 pounds. Getting old is stupid. :irked:

He told me at Christmas he thinks he MAY have missed 15 days during that span (almost all while Granny was recovering from her esophagectomy and we had to force him to take a break from her room) . Sometimes he splits it up into two walks depending on weather/mood/etc.. He also incorporates push-ups, sit-ups, and jumping jacks 3-5 days a week. In another life and with more selfishness I could easily see him being one of those people running Ironmans/marathons/etc. at his age.
