March 1, 201313 yr Today's WOD was Cindy. 20 mins as many rounds as possible of 5 pull ups 10 push ups 15 squats I got 18. We did this work out back in mud Jan and I only got 15 complete rounds and then 9 push ups into the 16th round. When you do that are you doing it as fast as possible or just a fairly normal pace? Squats without weight?

And if I'm not mistaken you should go as fast as you can while still doing the exercises correctly. The most I've gotten is 16 rounds I think. It's a heck of a workout.
March 1, 201313 yr When you do that are you doing it as fast as possible or just a fairly normal pace? Squats without weight? You do it as fast as you can but you have to be careful and pace yourself. Like anything else for time if you come out of the gate too fast you will burn out quick. For the push ups go first. I can do about 5-6 rounds unbroken before I have to start breaking the push ups into sets of 5 or even 4,3,3. Push ups are one of my weaknesses that I need to and been working on. My shoulders are fairly weak and burn out quick. The squats are body weight. I had a different strategy this time and it seemed to work pretty well. I tried going 5 rounds without taking a break. When I finished 5 I would take 20 secs or so to record my count on our white board. This would give me a sec to catch my breath and get a drink. This seemed to work pretty well. If I can improve my push up endurance I could easily get 20+. The pull ups and squats do not phase me and not really way to do them faster expect learn butterfly pull ups.

Make sure that you let people know that that Kipping stuff is dangerous, unless you have a proper strength base for it. If you have any shoulder issues, stay away. They have been the cause of many SLAP tears. You can fly through pull ups using the technique, but it is much riskier than a standard pull up.

March 1, 201313 yr Author Crazy Committed. Yesterday I one of those hectic days and could not squeeze in the workout. This bothered me so much. So finally got the chance at 10:30pm. I did not want to break my streak. Day 50.

I absolutely agree on the butterfly pull ups, not so much on regular kipping pull ups. I've been dealing with some considerable pain in my left shoulder for a couple of weeks and had to put working on butterfly pull ups on hold. Kipping pull ups don't bother it at all. When done properly there is no more stress on the shoulder then strict pull ups. Butterflies not so much, they hurt like hell and are the cause of most if not all shoulder injuries in crossfit from doing pull ups.
March 3, 201313 yr New personal treadmill best for me 27:46. On a side note I picked up a pair of cheap running shoes today and it makes a world of difference on how my feet feel after a run.

When you all do the pull ups are they over hand or under hand? I've never been overly great at pull ups for some reason.

Glad to hear about the success with the weightloss. Find something to do that works and stick to it until you are ready for more. Baby steps. Just keep doing it!

Feel your pain man, I had 2 sinus infections and the flu in about a 4 month time frame, worst stretch I'd ever had. Now I'm just fighting with shin splints and some mild tendonitis in my elbows. Shin splints were killing me during the week, hurt just sitting, not looking forward to that 1.5 mile run on Saturday.
