March 6, 201313 yr If confronted with the option of running 15 miles or contracting psyphilis, I'd have to go psyphilis. At least part of that process would be fun, if only for about 3 minutes.

March 6, 201313 yr  I guess I've found someone who hates running more than me. That last Tough Mudder will be the last time that I EVER run more than 10 miles w/out HAVING to survive at the end of it. Seriously, if I'm not running from some sort of Special Agent or something from the Apocalypse, I'm not running over 10 miles.
March 7, 201313 yr WOD 13.1 of the 2013 open Proceed through the sequence below completing as many reps as possible in 17 minutes of: 40 Burpees 75 pound Snatch, 30 reps 30 Burpees 135 pound Snatch, 30 reps 20 Burpees 165 pound Snatch, 30 reps 10 burpees 210 pound Snatch, as many reps as popossibles. The basically combines two WODs from last year.

Not to mention the fatigue on the back from the burpees. Be careful, man. This one, like many from HQ, makes no sense.
March 7, 201313 yr I'll probably be done after the second set of burpees. The most I've ever snatched is 115, never tried anything heavier. The thing that you will have to watch with this one is form on the snatches when they get heavy. Dan Bailey and Scott Panchick did the work out right after they annouced and neither even made it to the 165lb snatches.

I've started to become of the thought that the light weight high rep Oly lifts really aren't that bad if you know how to properly perform them...that being said, 210 pounds for reps on the snatch is heavy for even the best after everything that comes before it. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out...

March 7, 201313 yr I think that'll be the thing...only the very top guys will get close to finishing this thing. Bailey and Panchick are both top guys. No one is coming close to finishing this. They had the same snatch ladder last year in the open minus the burpees and Bailey got a few reps into the 210 snatches. With the burpees and he doesn't even make it to the 165lb level. My guess is there will be a few get some reps at 165 but I will shocked if anyone gets through them all.

I should have been more clear in saying that those two are some of the upper level men. Few, if any, are gonna get close to this.

Bailey finished the last set of burpees but no rep'ed on the 210lb snatches. Panchik got 4 reps at the 210lb.

Guys like Fronnin and Holmburg and Orlando will get close. That isn't my concern. My concernis for the 99% who arent those guys. Maybe I am weak, but snatching 165 5 times is difficult if I have already done 10 burpees, let alone doing all of those sets of 30 prior on top of no rest between sets, or at least proper rest. This is going to lead to even more shoulder injuries plus. I agree that light oly's done to high reps can be anaerobic and more enjoyable than sprints. I don't agree that some of these weights with sets of 30 provide more benefit than risk.
