Guys like Fronnin and Holmburg and Orlando will get close. That isn't my concern. My concernis for the 99% who arent those guys. Maybe I am weak, but snatching 165 5 times is difficult if I have already done 10 burpees, let alone doing all of those sets of 30 prior on top of no rest between sets, or at least proper rest. This is going to lead to even more shoulder injuries plus. I agree that light oly's done to high reps can be anaerobic and more enjoyable than sprints. I don't agree that some of these weights with sets of 30 provide more benefit than risk.
This WOD will trim the fat pretty quick. Most guys won't get to the 165lb level and if they do they won't be able to complete very many if any at all. It will end up being a WOD of 90 burpees and a bunch of light to med weight snatches.

I agree. Very few are going to be able to do that many snatches. Kind of crazy. Last year they did an "all inclusive" that punished bigger guys and benefitted lighter individuals, but it kept a lot of people in it. At least they kept this as an AMRAP. That way you don't get the dreaded DNF.

What don't you understand?

Just seems like the risk of shoulder injury far outweighs any benefit.

Stay within yourself and it won't be that big of a deal. But like anything if you push beyond your limits you are taking risks. Power snatches don't bother my shoulders too bad. I get more worried about my back then anything. When you start getting tired your form can go to hell if you don't watch it.

Squat 5/3/1 week of 3

SLDL 8x, 8x, 6x

100 DB Swings 65lbs

20 Incline treadmill sprints

MB circuit for core.

Side-to-side Neck Machine 4 sets 15 reps

Boys have a soccer tournament this weekend. Luckily, the first game is tonight at Town and Country so I will be able to work out and go right down to the field to watch it.

5/3/1 Press week of 3s

Super set in 6 sets of 7 pullups

CG Bench 8x, 8x, 6x

Face Pulls 20x 20x 20x 20x 20x

Shrug pyramid 135 to fail, 225 to fail, 315 to fail, 315 to fail, 225 to fail, 135 to fail. Rest only long enough to change the plates and 45 sec. b/n the 315 lb sets

Tricep ext. Set of 100 (this sucks)

Hanging leg raise 4 sets of 15

Neck Machine front/back 3 sets of 15 each way.

Did you give this a go yet?

Going to try it tonight. A few people at my box did it yesterday, so far the best score is 147.

Neal Maddox is in the lead right now with a 199. That means he got 9 snatches at 210. That will be tough number to beat. Jason Khalipa put up a 196.

Are you going to wear a belt? I think that I would just due to all of the stress from the burpees done in exhaustion followed by popping your hips on the snatches.

I thought about it but haven't decided. I love wearing a belt when I'm just lifting but when I try to while doing something like burpees it makes it hard for me to keep my breathing under control.

Well, only got 100 reps. Got to the 135 lb snatches with over 6 mins left and could get 1. Pretty disappointed even though I figured that is what would happen. I have the strength to do it but my technique sucks big time.

I am sure that the 70 burpees and 30 snatches before 135 had more to do w it then your technique. You should be proud to break the century mark. That is a lot of work.

Going out of the comfort zone today and runnin 3 miles. Trying to do it in 24 or less.

Couldn't sleep all night just laying in bed and my shins hurt. Gotta go do this Physical Testing for Erlanger PD and just not looking forward to running. No way I'd be running for a couple weeks if I didn't have to today.

Good luck.
