December 17, 201213 yr While I am not saying there is or isn't a Santa many of us probably still remember where we were, how old we were, and who told us that there was not a Santa. Mine: 1972 3rd grade Brian Kirby told me.
December 17, 201213 yr What? You could have at least put up a *Spoilers* notification on the thread title...I had no idea--I just thought I was on the naughty list for the past 35 years...Now my Christmas is ruined...

December 17, 201213 yr I was four, so the year would have been 1993. My older brother told me, then I told everyone at daycare. Apparently it was a fiasco, I can only vaguely remember it though.

At least you didn't inform your 4 year old cousin that she was adopted...in front of her pre-school class, no less.
December 17, 201213 yr I was 9 1/2 when I found out. A couple of months or so after Christmas in the 4th grade...which would have put it in 1991. My parents told me, and I got mad at them and told them to stop lying to me. Then they took me downstairs to ask my two older brothers about it - where I was promptly told "You didn't know that already?? You're such an idiot!"
December 17, 201213 yr My daughter found out the hard way when she was 7. I forgot to put the Easter baskets out and she came busting into my room that Sunday morning crying and upset that she didn't get anything. I had to tell her that the baskets were downstairs and broke down and confessed that there was no Easter bunny. As she was wiping her tears away, she said, "I guess now you're going to tell me there's no Santa Claus either!" Ummm, yeah.

December 17, 201213 yr You are all wrong. Santa does exist. I'm very sorry you were given bad information.
