The driver actually was blocking two handicapped parking spaces with his truck (one on the other side). I normally wouldn't pick on a delivery guy like this but I have always been told UPS is super strict so I was surprised to see such a blatant disregard for the law and the needs of anyone handicapped that may have needed either spot.

Perhaps he didn't see the sign? Aren't handicapped spots supposed to be blue?

There were two signs with a ramp in the middle. He saw it. I believe the KRS says marked by sign and the signs are both blue for your viewing pleasure LRCW.

What a maroon! Not only does he illegally block TWO spots, but he also blocks anyone in a chair who uses that parking lot from gaining access to the businesses or offices that the people need to reach. I think ramp blockers are actually worse that those who park in the spaces illegally. A person could concievably park in a regular spot in an emergency, or get dropped off; however, if you block that ramp, you've rendered that entire facility useless to that person who needs it. :irked:

I'm going to have to tell a side story here.

 

Went to a gas station in Bloomington, IN to fill up the tank (company truck). Gas station was busy. So the dispenser ran out of receipt paper. So I pulled up to handicapped spot and got in line for a reciept. Was in and out the door in 2 minutes. On my way out to my truck a dude parks right next to my truck (which was in a handicapped spot). Walks out of his car, starts cussing me out for parking in a handicapped spot, then continues to walk into the store...(note he had a handicapped sign on his windshield, but this dude had no problem walking). Now I knew I was in the wrong and didn't say anything back...but come on this guy had to walk 3 extra feet and he walked there just fine (also..he had no passengers with him). I didn't deserve to be called an SOB because he had to walk an extra 3 feet.

Lucky Charms - The people who abuse the system (like that guy) are just as bad as the spot stealers. Actually they're worse, because they're frauds too!

I saw two guys almost come to blows in Wal-Mart parking lot over a handicap spot. One had a tag and one didn't (that I could see) and neither looked like they needed one. I was far enough away I couldn't hear the initial exchange but what I gathered from the shouting that ensued was the guy with the tag called out the other guy and told him to show his tag. To which the other guy told him to go have sex with himself and he didn't have to show poop. The guy with the tag ended up punking out and jumped in his car then about backed over the other guys wife/girlfriend. The cops got called, it was a mess. All over 2 parking spots.

With regard to people cheating the system, I used to work for American General Finance, it was amazing how many people we had whose income was from SSI, who would come in to make a payment on their loan straight from the golf course or some other type of physical activity. Never understood how someone healthy enough to play golf couldn't be expected to hold down some type of job.

One of my pet peeves is people who use handicapped spaces inappropriately. I do believe in Karma though.

Doctors don't want to risk losing a patient, so they eagerly sign the paperwork authorizing a parking tag. There really should be some kind of impartial review process.

And in those few minutes, a disabled person has pulled in and seen that there were no spots wide enough to get his chair out of the car. He had then, either left or parked in a spot where someone will end up parking so close that he gets trapped out of his car.
