The laws of the land are indeed the laws of the land and parking in a handicapped parking spot, even if it's for only a second is against the law unless you have that sticker or tag and if indeed you use that tag or sticker without really needing to, you are no better than that truck driver!

 

So is changing lanes without signaling, but I'd be willing to bet you do that from time to time, and people don't get all bent out of shape over it....That's my whole thing with this issue. Is it wrong? Yes, never said otherwise, but is it something that should be blown this far out of proportion or that means the driver is a terrible person? I think not.

...some of you are forgetting, these delivery persons, aren't at these places for their own said business or pleasure. They are delivering a good to the business......Watusi's argument, is much different, IMO, and I agree with it.

Seriously? Never thought an explanation would be needed, perhaps some soul searching would be in order. As an able bodied driver, I'd much rather be the one inconvenienced, handicaped people are inconvenienced enough. I see no reason to add to their difficult situation.

I am not sure who took the picture, and where it was - but was the truck actually parked there? Could it have been a case where the driver backed into the spot to turn around and someone snapped the picture?

 

I took the picture, it was somewhere local in NKY but I don't want to say exactly where in case UPS Big Brother is lurking. The driver was parked, and out of his truck with packages in hand at a location where I am sure he delivers to multiple times each week.

Perhaps there are many ideals that I live by that you may not understand. It was a part of my upbringing that ingrained in me a sense of propriety when it comes to right and wrong and the way I deal with people. Maybe you agree with me, maybe not, no matter to me.

 

One of my convictions was to never take a handicap parking space because those things are there for those who need them. And to me never means never, it isn't up for debate and I will not compromise on that.

 

These type of decisions boil down to scruples rather than rights. I can justify bad behavior by claiming I am within my rights, but it is a weak justification.

 

For example, I would expect an able bodied man to stand up and give up his seat to a pregnant woman on a crowded bus. He obviously has every right to sit right there and let the lady stand, and she doesn't have any more right to the seat than he does. Can we agree that his decision has more to do with morals than rights? If he sits there it wouldn't be the morally responsible thing to do, and he runs the risk of looking like a ******* if he does. It may not mean that he is a "terrible person", but it does give a glimpse into his character.

It is a patience issue, at least in this case, and IMO. Wait it out....you'll get your spot....just as if he had just pulled in the lot and people who get stuck behind.....

And to me, there's no difference in the two. Inconveniencing someone is equally wrong in both cases.

It seems to be more a case of your blowing it under proportion. It is what it is...and it is wrong. There's no other way to rationalize it or excuse it. It isn't murder..but it isn't right either.

I do! In fact, I'm much rater be the one inconvenienced than to inconvenience a handicapped driver.
