I imagine he was long gone before it would ever be an issue.....and would even rush to get out of the way, if someone was waiting for the spot. Non-issue, IMO.

It is nothing more than a sense of entitlement. Everybody thinks the rules don't apply to them. They know it is wrong but they will justify it by saying "I'll only be in there a minute". Why anyone would hold themselves above the rest of us, especially when it comes to handicap parking spaces, is beyond me.

 

At my kid's school, people will park every way possible, even block others in, in the mornings to avoid walking maybe 100 yards. I see the same thing everyday where people will park in the fire lane at Wal Mart and go inside to shop, where they will walk around for an hour or more. Same thing at the grocery store. I just don't get it.

 

If I had the authority to issue tickets and have vehicles towed, I would nail every single one of them.

My mother had one.....and had patience....sometimes there are no other spots for a delivery driver to park....and, as I said, they are there for very brief periods of time. That being said, I am quite sure that we'll not agree about this, or the severity of it.

I empathise with them, but I'd rather see them double park and block in a car in a regular spot than to take a hadicap parking space. If they inconvenience an able bodied driver for a couple of minutes, not a big deal. But to knowingly take a handicap spot, even for a short time, is not acceptable to me.

I am not sure who took the picture, and where it was - but was the truck actually parked there? Could it have been a case where the driver backed into the spot to turn around and someone snapped the picture?

That's why they are at the business. But the reason they are parked illegally is for their own pleasure.

Seriously though, this is anything but a patience issue.

They know how to beat the system. And doctors are complicit with their scam. Doctors don't want to risk losing a patient, so they eagerly sign the paperwork authorizing a parking tag. There really should be some kind of impartial review process.

The situation with the doctors is definitely true. But you are right about people using tags that are no longer needed, as well as expired tags.

He's just saying that slightly inconveniencing an able-bodied person, who can get around easily, is exponentially isn't nearly as bad as keeping someone from being able to reach their destination entirely. The last thing any disabled person who has any self-respect would want is unfair treatment.

And to me, there's no difference in the two. Inconveniencing someone is equally wrong in both cases.

I must admit it bugs me when I see those who have handicap family members but use the Tag to park in a Handicapped parking spot with the handicapped family not being there, but my guess is that although BF deals with the hand he was dealt, none of you who are thinking that the driver is only using the sport for a minute, would trade spots with BF for just a minute either!

 

The laws of the land are indeed the laws of the land and parking in a handicapped parking spot, even if it's for only a second is against the law unless you have that sticker or tag and if indeed you use that tag or sticker without really needing to, you are no better than that truck driver!
