Whack 'Em has some zingers. I'm over the head-butting since one of my kids weren't the victims it's a little easier to move on. However, it'll stay in my mind like when Anderson Co took the cheap shot on Michael Waite. I'm very impressed and happy for Collins and Cooper for making to the state finals since both teams have been in existence less than 5 years. Come Friday though, the gloves are off, and apparently the pants too. With a weather forecast of 67 degrees, I'll be wearing shorts.

I will be shining up my clubs for a round on Saturday listening to the Bird Crew call the game.

So it sounds like they may have a few guys to key on for offense to shut em down? I'm sure Weinrich is licking his chops. How many guys are two-way players?

I have no idea.

What??? Not going to the game...come on..

Collins key players per KHSAA site. QB Page passed 185 of 346 for 2825 yds. and 36 tds. with 9 ints. He ran 155 times for 730 yds and 5 tds. Other runners are Farris 128-937yds-17tds., Bailey 86-487yds.-5tds. and Whyte 63-327yds.-10tds. Key receivers are Sames 62-994yds.-16tds., Farris{same guy} 60-974yds.-13tds. and Forrest 34-501yds.*2tds.

Their roster shows 52 players with only a handful of 225+ guys with 14 of the 52 being freshmen. On the two deep charts all the skill players except the qb are starters on defense. Both of their tackles are listed as two way starters.

On paper, this reminds me of the Franklin-Simpson game with a small roster and 6 two way starters and most of us were debating if the running clock would be in the 2ndQ or 3rd.Q. If the Wickware kid doesn't drop the ball on the one yard line in the second quarter that might have been an interesting game. Find the Farris kid on every play and when he's at cornerback run a fresh guy by him on every play. Go Birds, TCB.

I don't think so. I haven't seen one Collins fan on here the whole season. I saw them against Boyle. Their QB and their RB was their whole offense. Good special teams. The RB ran it and caught it. He did it all. The QB was a better runner than passer but he did both efficiently. I think we beat them 49-26 and they scored 2 tds late in the game when we were gassed. :D. Both were big plays. That's about all I remember.

Sounds a bit like Christian County in 2010 with Hickey and Tandy. The Birds' strategy to contain Hickey and keep him from improvising in the open field was the key. Without the ability to scramble and create plays, he had to revert to passing, and the rest is history.

What is Collins' history? How long they had a program, how many state titles/appearances? How many players? I do get sucked in to some of these sideshows but have prided myself this year on not getting sucked in as much. I do believe Birds will win but I'm not so sure that it'll be the 77-0 that my friend Whack 'Em says it'll be. Is there a single true Collins fan on here?

I am a fan of Collins. I am a Raceland parent and the team doctor but I am friends with and played HS football with Coach Jerry Lucas. I saw their game against Warren East. I know they aren't Highlands but Collins played aggressive and made a team averaging 40 ppg and only giving up 7.4 ppg look bad.

Did you go to Morehead St with him? I know he played there for a short time right.

It's killin' me that I have to miss this game. There is nothing like the annual pilgrimage including the drive down, freezing in the cold, chatting with friends and enemies, seeing the Birds play great, and watching the kids celebrate afterwards. It's almost become like a tradition and I'm sad to miss out on it. Video taped versions don't come close to such a good time. Go Birds and have fun!

You may have mentioned it in an earlier post, but why can't u make it?

W-I-F-E.

That is too bad, but I get it. Luckily my wife knows not to even schedule stuff on Friday's in the Fall/Winter. We even had our rehearsal dinner on a Thursday night & got married on a Saturday night so I could go to the game that Friday. Did miss the next game on the Honeymoon though.
