November 9, 201213 yr I'd pass on Petrino. While all coaches are looking for their next job he'd be looking from day one. Even if he is looking, do you think he'd get an opportunity from another school until he's had a clean slate at UK for several years and attained success? I don't. Every reason folks have for not hiring Petrino at UK will be there for several years if he takes the job. Heck, if he was even to entertain discussions from another program on Day 1, wouldn't that scare the heck out of the program having those discussions with him? I'd rather have Koetter than Petrino, but Petrino's past problem do not bother me given his situation. He desperately needs to stay at his next job for at least the next 3 or 4 years and he desperately needs to lead a model citizen's life while there, be that at UK, Auburn or anywhere else. If the guy needs coaching as bad as his father makes it seem, if quite confident Petrino has figured that out. Absolutely no reason why, if Petrino wants the job at UK, that clawbacks couldn't be inserted in the contract if he left yearly; if he had off the field issues, if he was rightfully terminated, etc.
November 9, 201213 yr I find it interesting that the day after it becomes public that Petrino is interested in UK, Auburn begins the process of possibly showing Chzik the door. I don't think Barnhart will hire Petrino. Two jackasses in one decade is enough for Mitch. I still think Mike Bellotti is the fall back choice if Mitch doesn't get options A, B, or C I was listening to a reporter who was on Finebaum's show yesterday. He said the President was working big boosters on Saturday. This just didnt come about.

Petrino may be a jerk; he may be an terrible human being. I don't know. But I do know that if he's smart enough to be a very successful coach (and it does take smarts to do so), he's smart enough to know what he'll have to do if he was to get the UK job. Coaches have egos. Successful coaches often have huge egos. Sometimes the best thing that can happen to them is to be brought back to earth. It more often than not makes them a better person.

All that said, I agree with your logic. I don't disagree with your thoughts. If we were to give him another chance and he blew it, I'd hope the UK administration would terminate him with cause shortly thereafter. I won't tolerate cheating, etc just to win. On the other hand, I do believe people can turn themselves around from mistakes. I know many a person that has done so.

November 11, 201213 yr I would say Tommy Tubs is off the list for his meltdown and ripping the headphones off his assistant. His assistant should have clocked his arrogant butt. And the fan base choice Mike Leach (other than home wrecker Petrino) has now yet another allegation of player abuse and mistreatment. What's the old saying about smoke and fire - just saying...
