Next week will see dozens of scores in the 50 and 60 point margin of voctory.

 

Last year, after the first round, I counted over half the games with a 30 to 40 PLUS margin of victory.

 

But, many folks say "let the kids play".

 

I wonder how many of these schools, coaches and players really want a first round game next week when many of them KNOW they will be beat by over 50 points.

 

And, if the week is cold and rainy leading up to those games.... have fun getting those players focused at practice!!!

There isn't a team anywhere that would rather not be playing next week. That is the reason they play all season, to get to the playoffs.

 

 

On a side note, anyone know of a good place to eat in Anderson Co?

Nah, yea it may be a beat down, but great stories also come from games like that.

 

Shoot, some of the kids can sit back and tell their kids that they played against JQ as he's catching TD's in the NFL.

Play the game, that is why these kids play in the first place.

I think they can't wait to play the mighty Shamrocks....win or lose, they could possibly get to play the national champs. I would love to have that opportunity.

If we were so worried about blowouts then why not just crown the champs today? I mean does anyone think the 1st round will be the only round that has blow outs?

LLets not have a playoff system and do it like they do in College D1 and just vote on who the champions in each class should be.

That would be my team, and I can tell you the answer is NO. They are actually looking forward to playing Trinity. A once in a life time chance to play against the best. The score will be ugly, but these kids will play their hearts out. Should they be denied this opportunity?

Agree 100%. As I posted above they are looking forward to it.

Way to many teams get into the playoffs. Yes the 6 classes have made it worse but even before then a team with one or maybe two wins get in the playoffs. Thats dumb IMO

I still believe only the 1st and 2nd place teams in each district should make the playoffs and not teams with no wins or just one or two wins. Eliminate the 1st round and go back to playing the state championship games on Thanksgiving weekend.

No one complains about every soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball team making the playoffs...get off your high horses and "Let them play"!!!

Now I won't disagree with that, too many teams do make the playoffs in my opinion also. I think having playoffs last as long as half the regular season is a bit long. But that is how it is and I have no problem with the teams who make the playoffs getting to play in the playoffs.

 

I would say take the top 2 teams in each district, but the problem you have is there are too many times that there may be 3 way ties and eliminating 1 of those teams from the playoffs wouldn't be fair either. Such as 5A this year. There were 3 teams in the district tied with only 1 district loss, and they were all against eachother. Who do you eliminate? I have no problem with taking the top 2 teams unless there are ties at the top unless you take overall records. Then the problem you have is there would be too many teams scheduling cup cakes just to build their record up.

 

So basically, if you only wanted to take the top 2 teams you would have to change everyone's schedule to where you only played district games all year and keep your fingers crossed that there were no ties.

Let Em Play. While we like to focus on the blowouts (and there will be a bunch). But there will also be upsets, close games, and a chance for the underdogs to play one last time.

2 hour bus ride.....60-0 beat down...getting home at 2AM Priceless! other than that lets play it! wasted week IMO.
