Too Bad Highlands & Bowling Green are no longer in the Same Class

Recommended Posts

Right when BG felt like they could take down the birds the KHSAA reshuffled the classes & Highlands Had to move down to 4a. So we all got cheated out of What would have been Surely a barn burner game, if BG & Highlands had Faced off.

Highlands & BG need to schedule a regular season game from here on out, Since they can't meet in the finals.

To help KY football this is a game that definely needs to take place annually.

I'd love this game also. Maybe one day when it can logistically be feasible for both teams it will happen.

That's the part that I don't understand. In others States they make sure these type of games take place. Ohio H.S. for example they play these games anaully. just this past weekend Cincy X played Clevland St Iggy & Moeller played lakewood St EDs. Because of the travel required they simple scheduled these games on Saturday's. Kentucky H.S.'s should simply do the same.

The Purples are doing this well with only four starters returned from last year (only one on a defense that has a streak of 21 consecutive quarters without giving up a TD...the only score given up in that time was a FG against Owensboro in the third qtr. They have really grown up!). They aren't just about Nacarius Fant on offense either. Next year, they have just about everybody coming back and they should be the prohibitive favorite for the 5A title.

I don't know what the schedule looks like, but I understand that the schedule is already in place. I very much respect the Highlands players and coaching staff. They came over to BGHS to work out before their championship game appearance a couple of years back, and had many kind things to say about our facilities and the hallowed grounds of Donaldson Stadium/Beard Field. It meant that much more in the fact that it was the 40th anniversary of our proud facility...they could not have picked a better time to make their observations known!

I wish the 'Birds luck in their quest for six in a row...maybe the two can get together someday.

:D

Just hasn't been able to happen for whatever reason. Neither team is ducking the other. Just hasn't worked out. BG has played LexCath this year and last. BG played in the iHigh Football Frenzy this year and last. Played St. X this year and last. It's my understanding Highlands schedule is pretty much locked for the next two years. I'd love to see the game but it just hasn't been possible due to other schedule commitments.

not sure what you mean. I am not a Highlands fan or a BG fan. I have great respect for both programs. I just want to see Kentucky's best programs face off annually, Trinity,St X,Highlands,Bowling Green & even Lou central are proving to be kentucky's finest. If this would Happen it would make Kentucky H.S. football better & this would make easy to see who is the #1,2,3,4 & 5 teams overall regardless of class. There's no better way to tell than to have these programs settle it on the field.

There was an attempt by both schools to play the next two years in one of the "bowl games." Apparently the bowl did not work out due to money offered vs. travel expense for both teams and one of the two was going to have to back out of a previous commitment.

Yeah, Highlands 1-1 record against BG sure puts them head and shoulders over BG in the head-to-head case...:notworthy:

Yeah because BG didn't make it to the finals!!! lol..Highlands won every 5a State Championship they ever played in.

BG lost in the state finals three years in a row immediately before realignment. Only lost one of those games to Highlands. Guess there could have been two more BG/Highlands games had Highlands been able to at least make it to the state finals as well. The same sentiment applies to you guys.
