Too Bad Highlands & Bowling Green are no longer in the Same Class

Featured Replies

One deflection deserves another. I can deflect all night if needed. Once you bring up 5 championships in a row Boyle County is mentioned. Indirectly or directly.

We know! You have proven that, and just admitted that you were the culprit of trying to change the subject because it was a losing one for your argument.

As for the mention of 5 state championships... That was the argument for Highlands against Bowling Green. We can ask Raiderbird if he meant Boyle County. Here is your statement, and his response...

BG lost in the state finals three years in a row immediately before realignment. Only lost one of those games to Highlands. Guess there could have been two more BG/Highlands games had Highlands been able to at least make it to the state finals as well. The same sentiment applies to you guys.

Yeah lost....:notworthy:HHS has been in 5 in a row and won everyone. Highlands has 21 State Championships... How many does BG have? Your talking Apples and Oranges..Could BG beat HHS? Maybe once or twice if they played 10 times..

You really think that is a reference to Boyle County?

Well lets bring the conversation back to that point, and respond to that question as if that comment had no reference to Boyle County...

I like how you keep leaving out the post that started the deflection.

PLEASE respond to my initial post about it. I stated that BG made it to 3 state finals in a row before realignment and faced Highlands in one of those AFTER he stated that Highlands won 5A every year they were there and never played BG in any of those finals.

Here it is again. No one responded properly to this. This post is when the deflection started.......

His comment had nothing to do with Boyle County. Like I said if people want to deflect and avoid posts and thump on their chests about 5 titles in a row, most wins in Ky High school football and 21 state titles I can easily find something to thump on my chest out about also. Chest thumping is not an appropriate response. I didn't ask how many titles you have. I didn't ask how many wins you have. I didn't ask about your state titles streak. I stated that what happened to BG when Highlands was in 5A is the same thing that happened to Highlands when BG went to the state finals 3 times in a row before realignment. Highlands went once so Highlands missed out on two opportunities for BG/Highlands and BG missed out on 3 when Highlands was 5A.

Can you hear me now?

Just finished, should have bought the oilbase......................:taz:

Last year would have been a great game between the 2.. BG was loaded with depth and experience everywhere vs the Towles led High powered FtH offense. Would have been fun to see. As far as this year goes, I think BG would probably handle them. Prior to last year and this year, I'd probably give Highlands the edge in most of those..

I was just at Lowes and the guy in the paint dept said I could paint oilbase over latex but not latex over oilbase...........

I went ahead and bought a gallon of Kilz instead.

Have you ever tried wallpaper? You can get some really amazing results!

It does't matter if your team loses. Both of those years Highlands lost to the same teams Bowling Green did by less points. If there was a bracket with the Heat and the Lakers playing on one side, and the other side was the 2nd grade Johnson Elementary vs. the 1st grade Moyer Elementary.. The 2nd place team would be the Heat of the Lakers.

The year Highlands won they beat the team that knocked BG out. In 2008 Bowling Green lost to Owensboro, who lost to Christian Co., who lost to Highlands. In 2007 Highlands beat Bowling Green. In 2006 Highlands lost to Cov Cath by 10 and beat BG in the state championship Cov Cath won by 19. In 2005 Highlands lost to eventual champion Lex Cath by 17 who BG lost to by 18. The year before Highlands won the state championship. In the same year BG lost to Madisonville North Hopkins who lost to Hopkinsville who lost to Boyle Co. Who lost to Highlands.

So in the 3 years you metioned, Highlands won a state championship and lost to the same team BG lost to but by less points... How does that answer your question?

And we don't even need to talk about what Highlands has done since then or before then... Do we?

This thread is crazy.

BG -vs- Highlands matchup would a good game.

I agree, I just have to try to deal with UK#1fan jr. over here.

It doesn't. Again, the comment was...Highlands won state every year they were in 5A and BG didn't even make the finals to allow a Highlands/BG matchup to take place. I said, the same thing happened twice when BG made the state finals and Highlands didn't before realignment took place. Same rules apply. The next comment was we have won 100 state titles in a row, 2134 games in a row, and we have 516 state titles. Now you are talking about how when you lost in the semis to the eventual state champs that best BG? You guys are all over the place.

I agree, I just have to try to deal with UK#1fan jr. over here.

I give credit where credit is due. Can you? Will you? Do you know how to? I'm not going to bow down to you guys because you guys feel you are the greatest.

I know a few Highlandsfan#1s on here for sure......

I think it would be also. Especially since BG seems to have taken its program up a notch.

(Disclaimer for some Highlands fans)

By me saying 'taking their program up a notch' that is not me saying BG's program is at Highlands level. We all know that BG will NEVER be at Highlands level so that doesn't need to be said either(although I am sure that it will be brought to BGP 's attention). I am just saying that the program seems to be at a better place than it was when BG couldn't even get to the finals to face Highlands when they were both in 5A. Just wanted to be clear since confusion seems to run rampant from time to time when discussing all things Highlands.

I know you're being modest here, but, imo, Bgreen is at Highlands level on the field right now. Not saying they'd beat them everytime, but, they sure wouldn't lose to them everytime either. It would be an even matchup most of the time. And before someone from Highlands comes on here spouting off scores from past games or # of wins, titles, etc, let me stop you right here. I'm not saying the tradition level is the same, I'm just saying the level of play on the field is at least equal right now and has been for 2-3 years now. Will that continue, who knows, but, right now, thats the way it is..

I don't disagree with your statements about where they stand currently. I have never been more impressed by the product BG is currently putting on the field. I didn't expect them to be at the same level or possibly even better than last year's team. From what I have gathered the program will be in good hands for years to come. I was speaking overall before we got hammered with the Highlands pedigree and their domination of Ky high school football since the game of football was introduced to Ky high schools.

Just to be clear...:D

What you're both saying is that BG can thank Highlands for helping the Purples raise their level of play to now be considered one of the best programs from year to year in the state of KY.
