October 14, 201214 yr It scares me more to think that the young, smirky, Gilligan look a like clown could possibly lead our country. It doesn't scare you that an old, smirky, angry, rude and condescending Mr. Ed look a like could? I'm surprised he could take his foot out of his mouth long enough to debate.
October 16, 201214 yr I thought the debate was entertaining, without much substance. What I did find interesting was Bidens response to the abortion question. I would have never guessed him to be Catholic. Was his response a good representation of the Catholic faith?

Many people believe that Catholic doctrine prohibits abortion at any time for any reason whatsoever. That isn't true. So Paul Ryan's views, even with the usual exceptions -- rape, incest and life of the mother -- more closely abide by Catholic teaching.

So how do we feel about a person, that sits in the pew every Sunday, and extolls his faith, but lives his life in a different manner? Is it OK to say, that your faith is in what the church doctrines, but publicly say you don't believe in it? Like I said, I was shocked to find out that Biden is Catholic, and then to hear the liberal rhetoric spew from his mouth, literally seconds after he claimed his Catholic faith. I do not want to debate abortion here, what I am doing here is questioning the man's integrity.

He's like most Catholics that voted for Obama (52%) in 2008 that have the ability to seperate religious beliefs and matters of law.
October 17, 201214 yr Campaign strategy: Claim your Catholic faith, and hope that nobody watches you go through the buffet line. Edited October 17, 201214 yr by hoops5
October 17, 201214 yr He's like most Catholics that voted for Obama (52%) in 2008 that have the ability to seperate religious beliefs and matters of law.I wouldn't call it "ability;" I'd call it more of a weakness. You either follow your faith or you do not. Sure, there are plenty of Catholics who don't follow Church teachings to the letter. While it isn't the end of the world, it's certainly not something that should be a source of pride.

So which President should a Catholic vote for this year and why?
October 17, 201214 yr So which President should a Catholic vote for this year and why? Great question. I think it's well documented why Catholic's might not support the President. I would like to hear from a faith standpoint why they might not support Gov. Romney. If some are willing to forego their faith when choosing, Id be interested in hearing that rationale.
