Boise is not the Boise State of the past few years. Here's a reach and my guess is he will need a job after this year and he has Kentucky ties.

Boise St is in the top 25, they are pretty good. I bet they beat KY if they played.

That's not saying much...

Yes, Boise can coach good kids into great players.

KY has always done their 4 or 5 star players awful. example, Boyd this year was a recruit everyone wanted, doesnt even start till his SR yr. Is he an underachiever or product of poor coaching.

Very tough situation. I just don't know if any coach can get this ship righted. Maybe a big name? It all comes down to recruiting. KY D1 kids are not the answer. Very few, KY kids are SEC top level talent. Yes you do need to get the very small few that may be, but the base of the recruiting needs to be in the talent laden states. Florida, Georgia, Texas, etc. Tough task indeed.

Agree about the limited number of top level Ky D1 kids. But UK has, just has, to get more of those few who can play in the SEC. Best recruiting line I, as a coach of another school recruiting against UK, would use to recruit a kid from, say, Ga.: "Why would you want to go to UK? The best players from Kentucky don't even go to UK. If a native son doesn't want to go to UK, why would you?"

You said Boise had less talent. Whether they are higher rated recruits doesn't matter once they get to the school. By admitting that Boise is developing their players better you are saying they have more talent.

I'm about 100% sure he is saying UK has better talent coming in, and Boise has better talent going out. Meaning that UK doesn't know how to turn very good talented players into great talented players. Boise on the other hand take good talent, turns it into great talent; even has several drafted along the way.

This. And program success always influences the draft position of individual player (see UK basketball).

IMO, Joker did exactly what he should have done, redshirt Towles and put Whitlow as the #3, behind Smith and Newton, in hopes that Smith stayed healthy and the #2 would not get too many snaps. Joker has also clearly stated that Whitlow earned the #3 spot over Towles. By saying that, he and the coaching staff felt Whitlow gave them a better chance to win at this particular time. That doesn't mean they felt Towles was always going to be buried on the depth chart, just that he wasn't as far along as the others. I would say Whitlow played much, much better competition on a week to week basis than Towles did, in HS and I believe Joker and staff feel that Towles has the best upside, thus wanting 2 years seperation between he and Smith.. Anyone who doesn't see this, imo, is nuts.. It makes perfect sense.. The cog in all this has been Newton. I think the staff has definately seen what his weaknesses were and was hoping he could continue to get better and fill the #2 role, but, clearly he's unable to do that, so, Whitlow got pushed into action. Had Smith only had an injury that was going to keep him out a game or 2, the Towles redshirt wouldn't have been lifted, but, unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way and they're now forced too, unfortunately.. I would still only play Towles if I absolutely had too(injury to Whitlow) and try my best to keep the redshirt on him, but, chances are, thats not gonna happen..

Glad someone understands, UK has more talent coming in than Boise, but Boise has more going out than UK

You think Joker was going to say Towles is the 2nd best QB on the roster after camp, but we are sitting him this year anyway? LOLZZZZZ

I think we should steal a USC coach like they stole Martin. :D

Joker said he wishes both of the frosh QBs would have consistently watched film all season and not wait until they got close to playing time. He says they both started showing up for extra film just this week.

Coach Woodson says PT runs better than people think and that Whitlow throws better than people think.
