They lost the game and that is fair. But they lost by an unrespectable margin. 85 is too much and you know it. But, I guess they can't help it.

This was horrible. What goes around usually comes around though.

This is a game, not a charity. David's best competition this year has been Piarist and we all know they're not stellar competition for already established programs in the region. The only good thing that comes from this is the money David School generates from the program. Shelby Valley can't bring lesser talented players off their bench if they don't have them. They are only allowed so many on the bench anyways. I'm sure if they wanted to they could call up Virgie Middle School and ask them to send their B or C team and they would probably still win. It's just unfortunate that the David School program has to suffer this badly. Oh well.

 

 

You don't have to play full court man to man the whole game like Shelby Valley did in this one and also in the first meeting.

South Laurel managed to play 19 or 20 players against Whitley Co. earlier this week with seventeen hitting the scoring column. I'm sure that Shelby Valley could have done more not to embarrass this tiny schoool.

The most unfortunate part is that the KHSAA saw fit to make the David School part of a three team district, while making the 57th District a five team district.

 

Really? Did Pikeville or East Ridge drop boys' basketball? Obviously Valley didn't.

Also, would Shelby Valley winning by 85 have anything to do with seeding purposes? Say if Shelby Valley and East Ridge tie in the 59th district and have beaten each other by the same amount of points, wouldn't the team that has beaten the other teams the worse get the #1 seed to play David in the 1st round and pretty much automatically make it to the regional tournament? If that's the case, and points is a tiebreaker then I see no reason not to beat this team by 100 points...

I never saw the game but I hope Shelby Valley didn't press like a previous thread said.

The question that I have and maybe someone might have the answer to is. "How many 3's did Shelby Valley take in the game and how many did they hit?" Playing full court man to man defense is completely unexcusable in this situation. Sounds like coaches trying to pad their teams stats.

how can a group of high school kids only score 6 points i belive that regardless of how sv played these kids still should be able to throw a couple more prayers up and make them

If accurate, not excuse for playing full-court, man to man the whole game....none at all.

After watching some of the PBS documentary "Country Boys" and seeing the work done by The David School, I would think sports is being used there as a teaching tool. Teamwork, sportsmanship, a sense of belonging to a group working toward a common goal. I'll not judge SV based on what I read on a message board, but if they really did continue to press with the score that one-sided, perhaps some teaching needs to be done on their side of gym as well.

These games are unfortunate. I know the compassion in us but what about the teams that "HAVE" to play these types of teams. Teams are only allowed 25 or so scheduled games & this makes 2 games for Shelby Valley that they got "NOTHING" from!! Because of seeding many teams are "FORCED" to play these types of games!! It is hard for a program to #1 miss practice #2 stall for 30 minutes & get nothing "basketball wise" from the contest #3 Put players in that will not see minutes in the District or Regional Tourny #4 Lose 2 games against stiffer & more competitive teams.

 

I see David School wanting in the KHSAA but I also see that doing this "FORCES" district teams to play them & LOSS 2 more meaningful and competitive games.

 

If teams refuse to play them they will still lose 2 games b/c of seeding purposes!!
