The 59th District is no longer a 3-team district. With the realignment, it's now David, East Ridge, Pikeville and Shelby Valley.

 

I know that....I meant that David was an automatic bye for anybody that played them...

How long ago was that? Didn't JC's coach leave right after that. What a bunch of bullies you are.

 

It was a bad evening to say the least. The coach was actually the principal also and was wanting to make the record books. Many people left the gym in disgust, some kids even refused to continue scoring, actually the coaches son, and was benched. So even though the adults have their own reasons for such behavior often times the kids know what's right and what is wrong. Nobody feels good about a win like this if they the least bit of feeling for other kids, especially those with special needs. I say "shame on Shelby Valley coaches" and shame on whoever defends that sort of play.

The most unfortunate part is that the KHSAA saw fit to make the David School part of a three team district, while making the 57th District a five team district.

 

Gotta give credit to the powers that be!! They always seem to screw things up somehow!! :thumb:

I don't see anybody crying over Jackson City on this thread...

 

Jackson City defeated Millersburg Academy by 108 points in 1992 (final score JC 180 - MC 72). Also that same season, Jackson City defeated Woodbridge Academy by 187 points, (final score JC 215 - WA 28!).

 

In 1996 Eastern defeated Doss 156-70 for an 86 point victory.

 

I'm sure there are other examples of this out there if you dig around.

Not even the players/parents/administration/community ect.ect.ect. The program suffered enough back then for one man's ignorance so nip it in the bud. Now here's the difference: You and others are not opposed to this but looks like you praise SV's effort. You are on here defending them and supporting them in this thread. I did not support what JC's coach done back then and nor will I now. I thought it was pathetic and always will. Some of JC's players even cried that night because of feeling sorry for WB's players. Some of the older students even quit the team. Only one man agreed with what JC done back then, but looks like you guys have several! :flame:

:mad: What a complete shame to put those kids from both teams in that situation. I can't imagine how all of them felt afterwards, and if you think this was o.k or that "they have to keep scoring" you probably don't know much about sportsmenship.

I have no idea what David School is about. I assumed they were about like the now defunct All Saint school from the London Area. These schools are not ready for KHSAA Varsity competion. So if its not for a payday why do they play in the KHSAA? I assume its a private school, so why dont they play other small private schools that are popping up everywhere.

I wasn't supporting Jackson City's manner of winning; just stating that their games that season were probably the record setters for largest margin of victory. :thumb:

 

As for supporting SV and praising their efforts as you are accusing me and others on here for doing - plain and simple, the David School knew what they were getting into when they asked to be members of the KHSAA. If their students want athletics at their school and want to play on the same level, then by George let them rise to the challenge the best way they know how. Maybe the players were tired of playing JV teams from Floyd County High Schools and wanted to play games that count?

 

It's unfortunate that scores involving the David School are the way they are, however, they asked to play and they shall receive. And as long as they try their best, then that will make them better players and sportsmen.

And I guess they have no plays to stall or any lag defense. They just can't help it. I'm sure none of the JV kids couldv'e dressed for this game. Boo Hoo, poor Shelby Valley.

As far as this game and the score...I agree with everyone else, it is sad. The score should NEVER be like this....after a team is 50+ ahead, then they should let their freshman play. This is what would...

make them better players and sportsmen.
