Gruden? Would he even consider it? How much $$$ would it take?

Tressel? w/UK history w/NCAA would they even consider him?

Petrino? I guess moral fiber isn't real high on the list of needs at UK...but would He consider UK?

Tressel isn't an option, he has a show cause against for the next 3 years. I think if offered, Mike Leach would come.

My worry is Mitch goes with someone who won at a school at one point such as Tubberville or Phil Fullmer. UK needs someone who can generate excitement into Commonwealth Stadium. Someone such as leach who would bring the air raid sirens back or Kirby Smart with his defense.

Wasn't Leach connected to the Hal Mumme era craziness? If so, I can not see a scenario where he is brought in. Plus, he is only 3 games in at WSU- I don't think he makes the move to UK to play against SEC defenses when it is, at best, a lateral move.

 

Kirby Smart will have options at the end of the season; I would love to get him, but he will be in play at Arkansas, I bet. No chance he picks us over a school like that.

Brent Pease at UF isn't highly regarded by one former UK QB...Former UK quarterback Jared Lorenzen wants everyone to know of his love (not) for his former offensive coordinator Brent Pease, who was at UK in 2001-02 and is now calling the plays at Florida.

 

As the Gators struggled with Bowling Green on Saturday, Lorenzen tweeted:

I love the list. I wonder how many would seriously consider UK? I do not think we get Smart, as I mentioned earlier. Herman is young and I think he will be at Ohio St. for a couple of more years before his name gets hot. Chad Morris will be in play at better schools- he would be another I bet gets mentioned at Arkansas. I think Scot Linehan wants to be an NFL head coach and his name has been hot for NFL jobs recently.

 

The two Marks, I think we have a shot at. I love Oregon's system, so brining Helfrich to Lexington would make me very happy. I think it is a system that can translate at a school like UK because you can get some guys that are not high on the recruiting radar to run it effectively.

 

Hudspeth has won everywhere he has been. It is another Sun Belt coach that will have a hot name. He has turned programs around in the past. I think I would like this hire.

 

How many of these names would energize the fan base- how many folks know of these guys? For instance, I would rather have any of these guys over Houston Nutt, but Nutt has a name that people recognize so maybe Barnhart goes that way. Same with Skip Holtz or Mark Stoops or Jim Tressel. I hope Mitch gets help in making this hire.

Can't imagine a whole lot of top-tier coaches lining up to take the UK job. Not going to happen as long as the fans, administration and boosters are so infatuated with the #2 sport. The best thing that could have happened is Joker succeeding, can't understand why people can't get that.

Completly agree with the bolded and I think most if not all UK fans hoped Joker would succeed.

 

I've heard many others talk about UK Basketball keeps UK Football from being any good...how does it do that? Not being a smart alect just wondering how BB hurts FB...doesnt seem to hurt Florida in the reverse.

Why do you say people don't get that? I don't know many people (that are UK fans) that wanted to see Joker fail from the start. But he has failed, and now we want him replaced.

 

Joker is a great guy, and it would have been awesome if he could have maintained UK at the level he inherited it at. He hasn't. He's gone the opposite direction, and done it alarmingly fast.

As much as it pains me to say this, does it really matter?
