February 17, 201313 yr The Cookie Jar in Newport on Monmouth St. is a LOCK!!! Always remember has a kid on the way to the Boy's Club in Newport on saturday mornings before grade school basketball games my dad would always stop, great memories. The tea ring and the house donut, the "cookie jar" AWESOME. To this day, every sunday morning after church we go to my parents house for breakfast and my aunt always brings a tea ring. The Cookie Jar is a great place. Grew up across the street from the owners. We had an old dog that would go across the street at 5 or so in the morning to get a left over doughnut every morning as the owner was returning home after baking all night. Great family. Also, must admit that Weidemans was pretty awesome also. Chocolate long johns and butter cookies with a drop of icing were the best.
February 17, 201313 yr I have been told that The Bakery Barn has closed. We may need a moment of silence over this news....don't know how to break the news to the kids. They'll be in mourning.

February 18, 201313 yr A girl at work told me that the Bakery Barn Closed, and I was in total shock. So, I called there, and there was a message on the phone that the business had closed, and was for sale. Honestly that ruined me day. In my opinion, it was the best bakery around northern Kentucky. Does anyone know why it closed? I still have not gotten over it.

February 18, 201313 yr I heard it's possibly a family issue. I know a girl that worked there for a good while and left because she saw the writing on the wall. The owner didn't have the mind or self discipline for running a business. And yeah, there were some family issues as well.
February 19, 201313 yr Loved stopping at Wiedemann's during lunch. My sister used to request an orange chiffon cake from there for her birthday every year. My dad used to bring Cookie Jar doughnuts home after delivering the Sunday paper in South Newport when I was a kid and I just stopped at Country Cousins yesterday morning before dropping kids off at Brossart and NCC. Love all three! Manyet's in Newport was another good one. That was my favorite place of all time.....................
December 1, 201312 yr New place in Alexandria called Miss Shirley's. We got a bunch of doughnuts from there today. Delicious!
December 1, 201312 yr Miss Shirley aka Robin used to work at Country Cousin in a-town. She went out on her own and we are so happy she did! Best doughnuts, pies, cream puffs, everything!!! Longer hours and better location.
