September 6, 201214 yr My ex wife had a friend that was from northern Ohio. She would call cheese coney's, coney dogs. What's worse is she pronounced it cooouny dogs instead of cheese cone-e like a normal person.
September 6, 201214 yr Speech and spelling have been a casualty with the advent of texting. I really don't like it when people drop the t's in words. I can't think of a great example, but if the word was meeting, they would pronounce it mee-in. That is almost as bad as axt for ask.

September 7, 201214 yr "I'm going to go to Best Buys and get me a new TV." Best Buys---annoying for sure. But the "get me a new" irks even more. I'm much more tolerant of mispronunciation than the missing Grammar. Not directing it at you, Jim, just using your post as an example. Had the "meet the teacher night" for AP English. Tough teacher. Her main point was that once out in the real world, strong communication skills are what gets you promoted---it's how you break out of the industry standard raise to a higher percentage.
