Interesting Scam Email and it looks so real...

My husband's Yahoo email account was hacked last year and this same email went out to all his contacts as if it came from him. Nobody sent any money though. Some friends! LOL

I get spam emails every now and then that appear to come from my friend's email address. They use my first name and the other person's name. Tthere's nothing but a link in the body of the email. Of course I never click on any sucpicious link.

Oh, it also wiped out all of his contacts, all of his received and sent emails, everything and locked him out of his account. Huge hassle trying to recover everything.

My old hotmail account was hacked and the hacker sent an e-mail telling everyone of my contacts (as if I was the author of the e-mail) that I found a great place to get Viagra,Cialas and Levitra and included a link. This even went to my pastor.

That was a little embarassing.

Sometimes I just play along and bait them for awhile, it's a hoot when I tell them the wire transfer for some reason won't go through or I mail them monopoly money. Other times I let them know my Uncle works for the FBI (lie) and they always go away.

The email address, the local KY info, and the fact I have a bunch of other emails from this email address in the past related to BGP suspensions.

Emails can get hacked very easy.

Next time I get one I will send them Monopoly money!

Gotcha. Still wouldn't make me consider "helping."

It almost got me because that is Nick West's mothers name. She works in Lexington(drives from NKY). I called him to ask about it and he laughed!!

I was relieved to hear it was a scam!!

Did no one notice the "came down here to Madrid,Spain"?

I received a similar one from the address of a friend that is an Assitant County Attorney, stating that he had to leave the country suddenly due to the illness of a family member in England. When he got to England it was determined that a down payment for a life saving surgery was needed and could I send him $1900. I emailed him and told him that he had been hacked and then the hacker responded to me stating they they were in fact my friend and needed the money ASAP. I guess people fall for these as this scam continues over and over.

These scam emails are getting very sophisticated. Never reply to any email from your bank about a bank account, especially if they want any personal information. Always call your bank to verify before responding to any email request.

I received the same one Bert, the funny thing, it looked as though it came from a friend of mine that is a pastor. I had a little fun with that one.

A friend of mine, (an ordained deacon) had one of those fake Facebook messages go to the Bishop in his name! It had a picture of someone doing something lewd with the caption, "Wow! what the _ did you do, Roger?!"

I mean, calling the Bishop, "Roger" is bad enough, but oh boy! :ohbrother:

It's the 21st century in a post-Vatican II Church. There's a fine line between "Your Excellency..." and "Hey Roger!" We're all adjusting...

I just got an email from a kathy almost the exact same as the Guru got!!
