If just SK alone got to keep all their talent, probobly yes. If Campbell, Dixie, Ryle and Boone all got to keep thiers as well, maybe not.

 

I'd like to see your assertion put to the test! Beechwood Football is a house of cards waiting to implode because it depends upon out of district enrollments and transfers. Have a bad year or two and that flow stops, and your coaching staff knows it. That's why they do things like send coaches to their opposition's practices!!!!!!

Secondly, if any school could keep all their players they would be better. BW loses a whole lot of FM kids to Cov Cath. Heck, kids that go to BW get letters in the mail from Cov Cath with tickets for a varsity football game and free hot dogs. Is that legal? That's why I have said all along...get rid of the rules. Let parents and kids decide where they want to go. Everyone pays there taxes where they live and if they'd like to pay for tuition at an out of district school for whatever reason (academics, athletics, band, chess team..) let them do it.

So, to get this straight, you are saying that "Spygate" didn't happen?

How many out of district players do you think Beechwood had in it's heyday between 1991 and 1997? You have no idea what you are talking about. They're way beyond having the possibility of imploding. I think your worries should be for your own program who is not yet anywhere near that point of comfort.

 

Beechwood has always had a lot of out of district players that have helped their teams, which is fine. That is the way the system is set up. I fail to see the point of crying about it.

KHSAA and state Board of Education are not the same. I was asking about the state education rules from post one and you never responded to that. Your answers kept referring to the KHSAA and you never said anything about the state BOE till the last post.

The large difference would be financial capability. Small independent districs can accept locally voted on dollars, and set their own tuition rates to attend their school. County schools pretty much have to set tuition to the price of the state allowance to accept a non-district student, if it is even in their policy to accept these students. IMO, small, upper class independent schools even have advantage over private institutions in that they can accept anyone for much reduced prices due to the ability to both recieve state dollars for in district students, and recieve extra money from local public support. Once again, it is the way it is, and there is no reason to cry about it. If people choose to give their money to their local school system, good for them. But I would bet my money that if you check tuition to go to Beechwood, or Highlands "former" tuition, you will find that it is less than the state charge, and much less than to attend a private school.

But, as stated above, I am not. I know that two years ago Highland's tuition was in the high 2000's. Why not just accept that the system is set up in this manor? I don't get it.

 

This is off the Ft. Thomas website for 12 and 13. Most schools release the state contract, so most students are eligable for the first tuition. Reguardless, the second tuition is still lower than private education.

I'm pretty sure you are wrong in part of your post unless I am mistaking what you are saying. County public schools can set their own tuition rates to accept out of district schools just like independent public schools set their tuition rates. County public schools are not forced to just accept the ADA money and not charge anything more. County schools are not forced to accept what the ADA would have been had it followed the student, and not charge anything more.

 

County schools and indepedent schools are both public schools. They operate under the exact same KDE rules. The only difference to my knowledge is the school district for a county school is the entire county, unless their is an independent school district within that county. If so, the independent school district is carved out of the County's school district boundaries; hence it is independent of the county school district. The County can accept locally voted on tax dollars if the taxpayers residing in the county school district's boundary vote in favor, just as is the case with independent schools. Taxpayers in the independent school district don't pay taxes to the County school district; taxpayers in the county school district don't pay taxes to the independent school district.

Reread my post. I didn't say that they couldn't by rule, I said that they couldn't due to their financial situations. Most county schools don't have extra public support financially, so they are forced to set tuition equal to the ADA money due to their financial situation.

The districts themselves. Most districts can't afford to take a student at a rate less than the ADA money.
