But WHY SMU?

Ever heard of Larry Brown???

Lame.

Lame.

Wanting to play for a Hall of Fame coaching legend is lame???

Unless he's coaching at UK...... Yes.

Wish him the best in whatever he chooses. Sometimes people forget these are kids, and sometimes kids just want to stay close to home.

I really don't care either way, but if he's only sticking around for 1 years he's probably not staying close to home for too long.

Basically all the recruiting people saying Mudiay will choose SMU over UK.

Larry Brown or not, I'm very surprised. Of all the 2014 guys, I thought he was the most solid for UK.

Mudiay himself said he's "gonna shock the world" as all recruits do post Juwan Howard.

UK offering the short guy is telling...

As we have seen now Cal gets most but not all and every other year 1 big recruit says no.

Might only land one or two of the top 10 for this class...

Do you think last years failures have had an impact on recruiting? In a way I'm starting to think its a pretty big factor, everything was rolling until they went NIT. Either this class is totally different or they are really second guessing the program and what it can do with a new crop of talented players year in year out. Also with teams like Duke, mich st. and others going hard after these guys more schools are starting to make sense outside of Kentucky.

The good news is Cal is always going to be able to recruit and another highly successful season should put them back in the driver seat of top 10 recruits, even if its not for the class of 2014. Stanley Johnson now becomes a vital part of this class if Mudiay says no.

It's just all cyclical. The run Cal was on in recruiting was never going to happen every year...

With other big programs accepting the one and done players it's changed the landscape a tad also.

You either love Cal on that first visit like the Harrison's or you just don't buy into what he's selling like a Harrison Barnes, Wiggins and looks like Mudiay.
