Also on Groupon you can play at the Wooford Hills Country Club for $39. Listed at $80.

And it's not a bad little course. Short, but a lot of the holes play uphill, some severely, which makes it play longer than it's listed length. $39.00 for a twosome is worth it if you are in the area...but I wouldn't drive all the way from NKY for it for those of you up in that area.

Played 9 at AJ Jolly yesterday and thought the course was in really good shape. Good to have them back in operation. It is one of my favorite places to sneak away and get in 9 holes.

Been having some great weather, hopefully everyone has been taking advantage of it.

Playing after work at the CC today. Bought the most yellow golfballs I've ever seen. Plan on spraying them and finding them, ha.

So here's a question for everyone.

We all seem to enjoy golf and most on here seem to have been playing for a while..

My question is, what got you started playing golf?

My dad had a metal driver he got cut off and gripped at my length when I was 7. Broke the back storm door window the 2nd day. Surprisingly, didn't get whipped over that one. My mom laughed, dad just had that "all my fault" face and got it fixed. Never did hit it back towards the house again though. didn't want to try my luck twice.

Wow, did I ever suck it up. Shot 90. Freakin' 90. On 2 separate par4's I was in the fairway bunker. Went from fairway bunker to greenside bunker. Buried lie, blasted it out only to fly it to the other greenside bunker. TWICE. Took a snowman on one and hockey stick on another. Drilled one in the greenside bunker on a long par 3. I should have brought an umbrella and sipped a fruity drink I was on the beach so much. Awful. Blew 2 drives OB on par 5s. I just sucked it up. I had 2 birdies and still shot 90.

There was a guy that lived across the street from me that didn't have kids at home and he gave me a set of his old clubs and took me with him a couple of times a month. I was about 16 years old. We went to a Par 3 course on Poplar Level Rd. in Louisville. It was a great time. I just hacked around and still do. I didn't have enough money to afford a new set until I was about 25 after I moved to NKY.

Up until 2003, I was BIG into men's slow pitch softball and had been for years. I had gotten to the cusp of the major level but a back injury I suffered in college kind of kept me from realizing my 100% potential, especially as a hitter, at times would tighten up on me and keep me from doing my best. But when I was on I could mash it with anybody around. Anyway, in spring of 2003 I bought a house and took the summer off from playing softball as my girlfriend was coming down from London every weekend to help paint, decorate, etc. Well I felt guilty with her doing all that and me being gone every weekend playing ball, so taking the summer off seemed the thing to do. Weird thing is, I didn't miss it, which really shocked me. I didn't miss the attitudes and egos, etc., and at that time the games was changing greatly because of technology, which I didn't like.

So, with all of that, after that summer I was looking for something else to take up my time during the warmer months and still spark my competitive flow. That's when I stated to play golf, and I have been hooked ever since. To be honest I thought I would get better much quicker than I have and actually thought that scratch or close to it would be attainable within a couple of years. Boy was I wrong. After about 8 years of playing I finally got down to a 14 handicap. Not horrible but not anywhere near where I want to be. It's a hard game for sure. And even at a 14 there are days when I can't seem to do anything right and look like I have never swung a club before. I really hate those days.

Golf league is getting ready to start back up for work so I am really looking forward to that. We play every Friday and the company chips in with a big check to the course so all we have to pay is $5 when we come. The $5 golf to end the work week really helps my golf game out quite a bit. I usually try to go once earlier in the week after work and maybe another time on the weekend and just playing those two-three days a week helps my game a ton. Last year was the best year I had ever played and it was because I was able to make it out more than I had ever had. Shot low to mid 80's consistently and got down in the high 70's a couple of times. I'm hoping for the same results this year, I'm off to a slow start so with the golf league firing back up I'm hoping to get out a lot more.

Where you work?

Where you work?

Kelloggs, we play our league over at Johns Creek because its close to the plant. I typically play Raven Rock because it's the closest to where I live, and I try to make it down to Stonecrest as much as I can. It's pretty sweet having that golf league though, you can barely hit a bucket of balls for $5, much less play a round of golf. At first I didn't think I'd like playing with guys I work with, I was always used to either playing with my buddies or my dad and his friends. It's turned out to be a good time though, this will be the third year I've played in it.

Maybe I can come and just act like I work there. I like the Johns Creek course.

Went to Raven Rock today to hit the driving range and the machine was empty.

My Dad played and we lived about 100 yards from the 7th tee at the local country club. My Grandfather got me my first set of clubs for my 8th birthday. I played in my first tournament when I was 12 at Danville CC.

I shot 88 today at the CC.. I can't score on that stupid course. About to make me give up and fish.
