Played at Wasioto Winds for the first time

yesterday. Very interesting golf course. It wasn't in very good shape at all. Fairways were full of Poa Annua.

I shot 46-36. Took me awhile to get loose.

I lived in Pineville for a few months in 2006 and was a volunteer starter at Wasiota. I played it nearly every day. It's set up almost like a links course, no trees (except on a couple of holes) and water in play on nearly every hole. It has 5 par 3's and 5 par 5's. The finishing hole is a par 5 that plays over 600 yards from the back tee (for golfers like jaherme..not me, lol). It doesn't have very many holes that has out of bounds, mostly hazards come into play. If you don't like water then stay away from Wasiota Winds. There's at least two par 5's that have water on both sides of the fairway.

It's a beautiful course, though. It can be a little buggy because of all the water, so you might need some Off. And they have copperheads, so don't be reaching under rocks for a wayward golf ball.

I had my 16 person golf outing there a few year's back. I loved the course. I shot my best round ever a 76 there on the last day. It was one of those days (maybe the only one) where everything went where I aimed, made a bunch of putts, and didn't have to chip much because I was usually on in regulation. I didn't see it coming because the prior 3 days I was in the mid- 80's. So I have great memories. It was early May and I don't remember the bug issue, but I bet it can be with all the water and humidity in the summer. Didn't see any copperheads either.

I didn't see but a couple of copperheads the summer I played there, but there were several killed by other golfers. Most of them are around the creek and rocks to the right of the number 12 fairway and to the left of the bridge next to the number 13 tee. Copperheads love to nest/hide under large rocks They've got a few signs posted with the image of a snake, about not sitting on rock outcroppings or reaching under rocks. Most mountain golf courses will have copperheads. Our course (Sag Hollow) opened in 2007, and we average about 5 coppers killed per year. I probably shouldn't post that news, not good advertisement, lol. But I'm sure most mountain courses have similar statistics. No one at our course has reported any dangerous encounters.

Bought a nice UK Nike hat, some tees, and a Cobra Baffler T-rail 3H. Love it. Can't wis to try it.

Played Belterra on Friday morning for the first time. What a beautiful track man. I started off pretty good with a par on the first 3 of 4 holes but the back 9 my wheels fell off. I lost a little money to my buddies but made it up in the Casino taking the house for $200 at the blackjack table. Basically paid off my friends and paid for my round, cant beat that.

 

I am definitely going back to that place, very nice.

^ I've always heard it's very nice. I need to make it a point to play it sometime.

 

 

I'm going to play Monday somewhere but not sure where yet. I'm sure it will be packed everywhere.

Great golf course. Holes 4-9 is a great stretch of holes. I really like 18 as well.

Played a leisurely 9 with the lovely lady at the club and shot a 40. Hit it really well for a change. 6 pars a bogey and 2 doubles. No penalty strokes or tree music today.

I started Birdie, Birdie today and then it was kinda downhill from that. Still played pretty well, I had 3 total birdies. My hybrid 3 has been a nice addition to my clubs.

Played for the first time at the country club here that we joined. Course in excellent shape. I hate playing courses for the first time, shot 88. I was out of the fairway too much and the rough on that course is about 5 inches high and ridonculously thick. Needless to say, a picker doesn't do well in that junk. Thank God I putted it well or it would have been worse.

I played 9 holes on our par 36 course at Sag Hollow yesterday and shot even par, 1 birdie and 1 bogey. Our invitational tournament is this weekend so I hope I can play at least in the 74- 78 range. The last few years seems I've been stuck on scoring 80 to 82 in the tourney, and I know I can do better than that. But when the tournament flag goes up sometimes the score does too, lol.

Hit some balls out in the backyard today with my new/used Cobra Baffler and man was it awesome. I absolutely killed the ball, the new way I hold the club has improved my game by 100%. Can't wait to hit the course this week.
