I voted 3 and I'm not overly confident even in that - Kent/WKU/Samford.

 

 

This is my thought process. I put the ceiling at three. I can see them losing to WKU, Kent State and even Samford to be honest. I'll be happy if they win 2 of those 3.

Boyle County has a better chance of beating Highlands this year than Kentucky does of losing to any of these three teams this year.

My heart says 6 so that's what I put but if I had to bet money I'd probably go with 4. I think they can beat Kent State, WKU, Miss. St, Vandy, Samford and UT but I think they could easily lose to Vandy and UT.

I can see WKU defeating them and I don't know anything about Kent State or Samford so I won't sell them short. Especially after it took UK all 4 quarters to defeat Northern Central Michigan Peninsula last year.

 

Had UK and WKU played in November I think WKU would have won that game.

Just over 14% of the first 21 votes have the Cats reaching the magical 6 wins. Not a lot of confidence in Catland, me included.

I said 8-4 but that is definitely their ceiling and if they did it many would definitely be surprised...6-6 is a definite possibility in my opinion, they will not lose to Kent, Western or Samford I dont care how good they are and Im sure they are good mid-majors but UK owns the MAC and they beat WKU almost every year as well...With that being said I went with the ceiling because I hate thinking about how bad they could be but I also think they will be much improved and they will pull of a couple upsets...The Offense will be much better hands with Smith starting at QB from the beginning after getting experience last year and Towles IMO will back him up not Newton...The offense line should be really good as well and they have a good crop of RBs...The recieving corps is in better shaoe than it has been in a few years...This team unlike years past will have more questions surrounding the D than the O but I think the O will keep some games close...They make a statement from the start and beat UofL...

I think the differing opinions are intriguing. I fear this could be one of the worst UK teams ever. I hope they start Towles from day one so none of his time at UK is wasted. I'd rather see the team build and grow with him leading than watch the team suffer with mediocre quarterback play that gets replaced eventually. Jump in head first. Let the Towles era begin immediately.

I would love to see that...The UK schedule is really set up well IMO even though the overall strength is 10th toughest in the nation I believe...Louisville has a nice team but that game wont be as tough as going on the road in the SEC, it is winnable...If Towles starts from day 1 and leads UK to a W over UofL then they will more than likely be 3-0 heading into week 4 with all the confidence in the world behind the freshman QB and it could propell them to a nice season...The key to this UK team with the schedule they have been given is to start out 3-0 and ride that swag to an upset or 2 in the middle of the schedule and finish it off by going 3-0 or 2-1 in the last 3 which are all also winnable...

I read where Newton is passing the ball very good. With that said hopefully they redshirt Towles.
