June 22, 201214 yr Henry and I will be vacationing at Mudville Beach once again this year. Water right now is extremely clear (thanks to the drought). Beach will be awesome (as soon as I get it dragged). Beer is very cold (as long as Henry gets then into the cooler several hours ahead of consumption). Food is great (provided I don't burn it on the grill). Travel cost and time can't be beat: about 10 miles or less by car and takes 15 minutes from home. Fortunately for those passing by via boat, there are no nude beaches at Mudville.

There is a restaurant called SeaJays on Jekyll Island that does an awesome Low Country Shrimp Boil. They also have live music several nights of the week.

They also have live music several nights of the week. Also tour the homes there and the Jekyll Island Club Hotel. Pretty cool! Go see the turtle breeding areas of the beach too. And take a day trip to Savannah. It's only an hour north. Do the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil tour there and go shopping on the riverwalk.

June 22, 201214 yr We are leaving Monday for what should be a dandy vacation. We are flying into Prague and staying in the historic section for 3 nights, then will take train to Trier, Germany for just one night. Then, it's a short train ride to Luxembourg for 2 nights. After that, we are off to Normandy (by train) for a few days (been wanting to see the D-Day beaches for a LONG time). After Normandy, we're off to Bruges, Belgium for 5 days. For those of you who know me and my love of beer, you'll notice that we'll be hitting some top-notch beer producing countries.:thumb: I've been to Germany a few times and tend to favor German dunkels and schwarz biers. However, I also love Belgian beers, and am looking forward to my first trip into Belgium. Sounds amazing. Have a blast and drink one for me!

June 30, 201214 yr For those that want a nice summer beach vacation but aren't into a 12 hour drive consider the west coast of Michigan. We vaca'd jut north of Holland a few years ago in a cool lakehouse and it was outstanding. Hot days. Cool nights. How long of a drive is that?

June 30, 201214 yr Does it have a pool? Yep. That's one of the reasons we volunteered to take care of their cats while they are gone next week. Those cats need attention. Seriously though, they were paying someone to feed the cats and my wife and I said we'd watch the cats for free and they said the pool is yours for the week then. Fair trade off in my eyes. We will use the pool. Every. Day. :lol:
