Jared and Mitchell each scored a TD today during the Jamboree (Kind of a half field scrimmage) . Sounds like the coaches are "Bluntly Honest" and very loud I guess... but those guys should be used to it as they share the same AAU Basketball coach. Sorry TD, just had to get that jab in.... lol

 

Word is they are learning alot... from footwork to carrying and catching the ball... should be interesting to hear more of the stories once they get home... good luck to both in their upcoming games...Send the Red team home pouting and the Swedes back to IKEA for some meatballs....

Here is what I was told were the results of the games on Thursday morning at the USA Under 15 Development Week. The white team won their game 2 touchdowns to 0 against the red team. Jared got one carry out of the tailback spot for a gain of more than 10 yards. Also was told he made several nice blocks on plays run between the tackles and out on the edge. Mitchell's blue team defeated Team Sweden 1 touchdown to 0. He had no catches in the game, but did have several nice downfield blocks to help is team to first downs or long gainers. I am sure that each are glad to be back and looking forward to getting to work with the Bluebird Frosh this week.

Thx for the update JOAT. Great experience for those two young men! These guys are excellent reps for KY, Ft., & Highlands! Both are high quality people & I look forward to watching them in a Birds uniform for 4yrs!

I am looking forward to Highlands playing Beechwood. They had a bunch of eighth grade players last year that played on the freshman team (Feiger, Mahorney, Bankamper, Shlusher). I wonder if some of them will play freshman again or move up. If they play another year of freshman ball they should be a very very good team. Regardless, this Highlands team should match up well with them.

One game at a time fellas. Game number 1 is at Trinity on Saturday August 18 and I am sure the coaches will be working on getting ready for that matchup. I believe that practice starts back up tomorrow and I am sure Coach Behymer and the rest of the coaches are eager to get things cranked up. Still curious to see where some kids end up on offense and defense, but that probably will not shake out much until the equipment goes on and the real hitting begins.

Any word on when they get their gear? It will be interesting to see them in pads.

A couple have already been in pads. I believe they cannot go in full gear until August 1 or thereabouts. Curious to hear if there has been any movement of personnel since the dead period.

They will be there for the freshman games. Freshmen do not move up at Beechwood. Heck, there are usually no more than 2 or 3 sophomores that get varsity time at Beechwood. The freshmen all move up if they want to once their freshman season is over but freshmen play freshman ball at Beechwood.

Jager is working in at O and D-line. Robinson is getting time at guard. Any news on TE? I heard Zigler is playing some TE. Also, any news on Henchen. I heard he hurt his ankle severely.

I have never seen Henschen without an injury.

Hunter Henschen is out for 8-12 wks with severe ligament damage in his ankle..

Bummer Man. Hope he recovers sooner rather than later.
