June 25, 201214 yr Just got the RocketBallz driver a couple of weeks ago..love it..got fitted by Jarrett at The Golf Exchange in Florence on their Trackman launch monitor..amazing what they can do..hit a bunch of different brands of driver and my best fit was RocketBallz Tour 9 degree..adjusted down to 7.5 degree loft with X-Stiff shaft..my previous driver was a TM R9 460..I picked up 40 yards with the RB with a much lower ball flight with a lot less sidespin and my shot dispersion was much better. I'm very happy with it..the ball definately rockets off of it!!! I can't imagine picking up 40 more yards on my drive. I already hit it 280-300. I can't wait to try it out.
June 25, 201214 yr Shutitdown, curious how he liked/benefited from the lessons? Were they worth it? He has only taken 1 lesson last Friday. Andrew worked on his grip and stance and the changes definately showed up yesterday with some of his shots. I signed him up for a 5 lesson package and the plan is to go to the practice green for 2 of the 5 lessons to work on chipping and putting. Andrew made a great point that more than half of your shots are either chips and putts and most people don't work on that part of the game as much as just pounding drivers at the range. Here is his site if you are interested : Andrew Stephens Golf Instruction

June 25, 201214 yr I'm just getting back into golf after about 5 years that I haven't really played at all...My current set of clubs are all Arnold Palmer clubs that was one of those box set deals, I got them probably 10 years ago for christmas at that time I was 14...I didn't really take very good care of them and they are in pretty rough condition so I am looking to upgrade...I have a nice stand bag that I bought a few years ago but I am looking to try to piece a complete set together on my own without buying a box set...Yesterday I bought the 2010 Nike vr str8-fit tour driver for $80 brand new at Dunhams which seemed like a good deal it said it was originally $400 I believe, has anyone swung one of these? Now I'm looking to upgrade my Irons and get a new Putter...I'm very close to buying the Nickent 6DX Hybrid-Iron Set 3H-5H, 6-PW from Dicks for $199 originally $599 but I wanted to see if anyone on here has any experience with those or that brand...From what I can gather it seems to be a decent brand but one that was recently bought out by Dicks because they were going under...I'm also looking at buying a Pinemeadow Putter from Dunhams that seems to be a clone of Oddysey Putter, I have also researched Pinemeadow and it seems they make quality products... I just thought some of you guys might know a little more than me since I haven't been in the game for a while...I'm trying to put together a decent set of clubs without buying a full set of Nike or Callaway's or one of the big brands and without having to buy a cheap box set like an Intek or Acuity or whatever all those brands make...I'll probably just keep my Arnold Palmer 3&5 Woods for now, I never seemed to use them a whole lot anyways...So between the Nike Driver I already purchased, the Nickent Irons/Hybrids and the Pinemeadow Putter I will be looking at a total of around $300 which doesn't seem to bad... Check out GolfWRX.com and go to their forums. You should be able to locate a lot of information there.
June 25, 201214 yr Author I took my 13 year old out to Fox Run around 5pm today for 9 holes. We had the entire course to ourselves. He birdied # 8. Playing from the ladies tees he hit it about 20 yards short of the green chipped to the fringe and drained a 30 footer. He was very excited. I've had a lot of great times golfing this year but his expression and excitement after his birdie tops the list. Was out there on Pioneer for 18 starting around 4 and it was great, once we got to the back 9 there was hardly any one else out there.

We've found that on Sundays if you tee off after 3 or 4 on any of the courses it's usually empty. Great time to work on the game and hit some extra balls without holding anyone up. On Fox Run there are never any rangers out there that late so you can jump around on the course pretty much all you want.

My work schedule just changed so I'm now off sun, mon, tues so hoping to get out and play on those days and hoping it's not as busy. Yesterday was a great day for golf.
June 26, 201214 yr Sort of a tangent here....a guest from Pittsburgh played 90 holes on our Pete Dye course the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. He outlasted both his buddy he brought with him and his caddy. The next morning he came back and asked for the pins to be moved and proceeded to play 57 more before he finally had enough. CRAZY!

That's nuts RM. We played 18 with a cart yesterday and we were going to play again today but I was still tired from yesterday so we are going tomorrow. I couldn't imagine playing 5 full rounds of golf in just one day. That's just down right crazy, that's playing golf from sun up til sun down.

I can only imagine he slept well that Friday night.
June 27, 201214 yr Putting is 47% of your strokes and I have been working on this part of my game most of the summer. I played 9 the other night at Highland CC right before the Big Highlander Tournament and 1 or 2 putted all 9 Holes which Was huge. The pin placements were brutal and they are some of the best greens in the Tri-State. It Was like playing on a parking lot with the speed. Hardest part of playing my club is leaving my Big dog in the bag and hitting my Long irons and fairway Woods. Its a very Hilly, short course with narrow rolling fairways so Long isnt the best choice. Chipping is give as Well and all repetition. My trouble has been getting off the tee consistently can drive the ball Well but I have a hard time finishing my swing which leads to the dreaded slice. My 2nd Shots have been decent this far but my game from 120 in needs work. I shoot low 90's and May take a few lessons from our Pro Jay Lumpkin to try and figure out my issues.

I don't have enough hair left to pull that off but always wanted to.
June 27, 201214 yr Do any of you guys know if EZLinks or GolfNow are legit websites? It seems the idea of it is to give golf courses the opportunity to fill up tee times that i assume they have trouble filling by offering a discount at these times, or just to get business in general...For instance according to the Hickory Sticks website its $40 per person for 18 with a cart on the weekends but thru golfnow.com I can book a Tee Time at 11am this Sunday for $18 per person for 18 with a cart...That's a 55% discount...I'm wanting to take my dad golfing on Sunday as we are both working on getting back into it but we are pretty rusty and it's hard to fork over a lot of money to go and stink it up  I have been over on the golfwrx forum quite a bit reading about clubs and such and read a thread about these places, most over there say they are legit but I was wondering if any BGPers have used these sites before?
June 27, 201214 yr Use an app on your phone if possible. It's so simple. My app on my phone is called Golf Times. Works perfectly.

I use GolfNow for almost every round I play (which is quite a bit). Definitely legit, and one hell of a website. Book it.
