Had a great day today. Shot 81 at Hickory Sticks including an eagle on # 17. The hole has always given me fits with the awkward looking tee shot. I finally decided to commit to hitting it down the right side and trust my draw. Had 180 yards in..drew a 5 iron in to 12 foot and drained the putt. First eagle of the year. I love golf right now with how well I'm hitting it. God bless Jeff Kruempleman at The Golf Ranch! I did a putter fitting with the guys at The Golf Exchange in Florence last week and bought a Ping Nome putter. Was putting good but nothing was falling and switched to left hand low grip and finished the last 7 holes at 1 under par. Great day..booked tee time on GolfNow.com app at the bar at LBYC at 1am last night..$30.00 great deal..started at 220 and were done by 540...perfect day!

Nice..I'm guessing mine are in the mailbox.

Is there anywhere near Lexington I can go to get fitted for clubs?

Sounds like you had a good day with golf. I wish I had more time to practice but at least it's still early in the year.

I feel the need to share because I am extremely proud of my round I had on Sunday.

I woke up Sunday morning around 8 and just had an overwhelming feeling to go golf. It had been about 2 weeks since I'd golfed last and the crave finally got to me. So, I got on GolfNow and looked for a good price around Lexington. Came across a deal for a course called Cassell Creek in Winchester for 10:00, which would give me enough time to run by Wal Mart and pick up some golf balls on my way out. I'd never played there before, but the course looked fairly open and not too difficult when I arrived.

At this point, please note that I am generally a mid-90's player who can occasionally score in the high 80's.

My first drive went dead straight, a rare occurrence for me due to my nasty slice. Second shot put me on the green and I proceeded to 2-putt for par. Great way to start the day, if I do say so myself. Next, I pull up to a 195 yard par 3. Whip out my 3 iron and give it a good whack. Again, I'm on the green in regulation and I 2-putt to another par. Man, this is going to be a GREAT day! The goal now is to not fall apart completely.

Then comes the 525 yard par 5 with a dogleg right. My drive goes a little short of the bend, a pathetic 225 yard drive that had way too much loft to it. 300 yards to the hole... I can't really see the hole from where I'm at, but I have a decent line with my naturally occurring slice. Out comes my 3-wood (best club in my bag) and I give it what feels like the best hit of my life. I mean this ball ROCKETED off my club and went exactly where I wanted it. I've got to be dead middle of the fairway, maybe 50 yards short of the cup. So as I'm driving up and looking for my ball, I just can't seem to find it anywhere. How do you lose your ball in the middle of the fairway?? You place it 4 feet from the cup is how. Tap in for Eagle.

Skip ahead to the back 9, and I'm lying about 120 yards out from the hole. Let's use a 9-iron for this one. Smooth hit and the ball sails on a perfect line towards the flag stick. Lands a few feet short, but rolling... Rolling.... OH BABY!!!! Another Eagle!!!! This is where I decided I'm going to at least par out the last several holes, because I'm looking at a great score as it is.

I end up going -2 the rest of the way and finishing with a score of 75... 3 over par. This was officially the best round of golf I will ever play in my life, and I still don't know what the heck came over me. It felt like every shot went exactly where I wanted for the entire day. I'm sure I'll be back to my old self next time I go out, but I'm considering retiring on top at this point. :D

I love this sport.

Great story, man. I hope the roll continues. I had a similar 9 hole round at Longview in Georgetown, where I shot a 27 on the back 9. Played 2 days later at a far easier course and put up a 40. You just never know when the golf Gods will smile upon you.

"You're really killing it today your Eminence..........I don't think the hard stuff will be coming down for some time, I'd play through"

Try KY Golf Superstore and ask for Bart.

I'm going to Ashland this weekend and plan on playing some with a few of my buddies. Anyone have any course recommendations for the area?

This week has been the perfect week for golf, not going to get too many more of those this summer. Before long its going to be nothing but scorchers. Went yesterday and played Stonecrest (Prestonsburg), which IMO is one of the premiere courses in EKY.

I played for the first time in 4 years the other day. Haven't been to Stonecrest, went to Mountain Pub Links at Johns Creek. It's not a bad course.
