Pike apparently looked great at camps w/out a rush. I've seen him play 6 games and I've never come aways saying that he's an SEC decision maker. He's an athlete, and has a strong arm. I just don't feel like he has "it" like I did watching Towles or Couch. I don't trust his decision making on the field.
May 3, 201214 yr Who wrote that article you? I will stick with Auburns website stats. Agreed.......official stats on the Team's website win......According to the "Villa Hills Notifier" I was 8 for 9 with 6 TD's and would have been perfect but the kid dropped the ball.

Time will tell their POTENTIAL. I hope they succeed for the kids sake and hope they can handle adversity if they don't live up to these expectations.

May 3, 201214 yr If you watched Pike last year, and walked away from his games thinking, "wow, there is an SEC QB in the making", then you are lying to yourself. At no point last year did Pike display anything remotely close to competing at a top tier college football program. He was recruited purely off of potential and size. This seems to me like an instance where the Auburn staff is taking a stab at formulating a QB. The kid has the physical tools, he's big, athletic, and can throw. And Im sure he looked good in shorts and a tee shirt throwing at passing camps, but I hope they can turn him into a football player. Last year I remember Towels out playing him in every aspect of the football game.
May 3, 201214 yr If given the opportunity to select Patrick Towles or Zeke Pike as a recruit at your favorite college program, would there be any BGP'ers who would take Zeke? I wish Zeke the best of luck and hope he becomes an All-American. But, if I had to pick one of the two, I would definitely take Patrick. In my opinion Patrick is a better passer, better runner and better thinker.

May 3, 201214 yr I agree that State Championships mean nothing, however there are many kids that have size and can throw the ball but when put on the field in game situations, with people chasing them they are different players. I hope all the local kids go on and do well but so many get all the hype from going to camps, that some can't afford, and they look good in shorts and t-shirts throwing with no pressure from linemen and then when they get in a game they look like they are lost. I wish Zeke the best but I will be surprised if he is successful as an SEC QB. I watched a couple "hyped QB's" last year play Cooper and Cooper's QB Morris clearly outplayed both but because he is 5'8" he got no mention. I'm not saying he would be the better college QB but he is a better High School QB and it wasn't close. He led his team to two wins over these two hyped kids. IMO, play on the field matters more than size and camp performance. Many top camps are by invitation only and don't cost one nickel. I continue to hear this, but it's such a fallacy. Simply not true. Sometimes in life there are those who need to take the harder, longer road in order to learn life's lessons. The trick is whether or not we paid attention along the way.

He is a talented athlete. You don't get recruited hard w/out having taken a varsity snap w/out that. I think everyone agrees on that. It's his ability to control his emotions and make good decisions throwing the ball that most question.
