Zeke was 4/8 - not 5/11.[/quote

You might want to check Auburns website and look at the spring game stats it says 5/11 48 yards. Not sure where you got your info but it is wrong.

Makes me wonder if Barker is really getting recruited like Clyde says? :D

For the record, Kiehl Frazier was 7-of-9 passing, Clint Moseley was 5-of-6 passing and Zeke Pike was 4-of-8 passing.

Fine. You asked where I got it and I cited 3 sites.

In my trip to Mississippi this weekend, I was stuck in a huge traffic jam for around three hours due to a wreck on north bound I-65 in Alabama. Just so happens the good folks surrounding my car were all local people and huge Auburn fans. I of course had on one my Covington Catholic tee shirt that one of the Auburn fans kept looking at and after looking at my license plate and seeing it said Kentucky asked me if the CovCath was the CovCath that the new Auburn QB had played against.

Of course I said yes and told him that IMO Zeke wasn't even the best QB from our area and that the best QB from our area went to Kentucky and his name was Patrick Towles and the other was Blake Bir a senior to be at CovCath. I told him Zeke never beat CovCath or Highlands as a varsity player and never smelled a state title and I honestly was surprised that Aubrun took him.

Had a very nice chat with some very nice folks who gave me a couple of soft drinks and chips to eat while we all waited.

I will disagree with my man TOG in regards to measuring a high school QB by state championships. It's completely irrelevant to me when evaluating a QB. If that's the way we measure then our own Blake Bir will not fare well either. Really simple in my mind. Does he have size? Can he throw the ball?

There's a reason why so many schools watched the kid and offered.

I agree with you Pike forced to many passes last year.

Big ole' AMEN right here Clyde. TOG certainly has a big bias with ZP. I hope the kid proves lots wrong as I think he will.

I agree that State Championships mean nothing, however there are many kids that have size and can throw the ball but when put on the field in game situations, with people chasing them they are different players. I hope all the local kids go on and do well but so many get all the hype from going to camps, that some can't afford, and they look good in shorts and t-shirts throwing with no pressure from linemen and then when they get in a game they look like they are lost. I wish Zeke the best but I will be surprised if he is successful as an SEC QB.

I watched a couple "hyped QB's" last year play Cooper and Cooper's QB Morris clearly outplayed both but because he is 5'8" he got no mention. I'm not saying he would be the better college QB but he is a better High School QB and it wasn't close. He led his team to two wins over these two hyped kids. IMO, play on the field matters more than size and camp performance.

I know that scouts were big on Pike, I'm just not sold on him as a QB. I feel that he is better suited elsewhere. Physically he has the ability, but mentally he doesn't handle stress well. That's not a positive considering all of the pressure that he will face from SEC defenses.

He was a pretty good punter.

So are you guys asking me to trust your ability to judge the potential of QBs over those that get paid to do it every day?

Really?
