You have a vehicle, on tracks, that is over 3 busses long, you're at a red light, making an illegal right on red turn. How do you not see something that big rolling past you? Then again, as some of you have already mentioned, Ohio drivers! I too would have thought for that kind of money you would get a heck of a lot better bumper, but hey, look at most cars today. I actually think that it's going to be a success, and if so, I hope they fast track the second leg of it to Clifton and the"pill hill" area and the zoo. I also heard about a possible loop from 2nd and 3rd street to Covington and Newport, taking place of the SouthBank shuttle, not sure how I feel about that, does that shuttle get a good amount of riders?
August 22, 201610 yr Someone hit a streetcar today. The car didn't win but it did take a chunk out of Cinci's Desire. [ATTACH]57350[/ATTACH] Apparently the official police report stated that the driver of the car ran a red light at the intersection.

Well they are dealing with Buckeye drivers for the most part, so it's just a bad combination.

Top to bottom, the streetcar has been a losing battle from day one. Construction of the streetcar line was over $25 million more than budgeted...which is particularly crazy when you consider the fact that the city didn't have money in the bank, or even promised to them for the initial budget of $45 million. Then they added another $15 million in unaccounted costs for the Duke utility lines they had to relocate along the streetcar lines, because the nitwits who conceived and planned out the streetcar design hadn't taken those into consideration. Then there was a $1 million pricetag associated with startup, which apparently was a completely unexpected surprise to everyone. There are also the annual operation costs, which contracted out at $4.2 million and were originally slated to be between $2-3 million. I think adding to the streetcar line is a great idea....if Cincinnati wants to be the next Detroit.

They will have random inspectors checking for tickets and will fine you if you are on the street car with out your ticket. Be curious to see how this works and what the fines are.

So basically you can ride for free as long as you aren't caught? :lol2: No chance they can check everyone who rides.
September 7, 201610 yr I'm willing to bet they miss revenue projections by a good 25-30%. THIS! I honestly don't see how they projected this streetcar project was ever going to break even. And wait until the first serious accident happens and the city gets it's butt sued!

I saw that today and thought it was crazy. How are they going to enforce this. You are not required to have ID to be on the street car correct? So if I hop on the bus with no ticket and I randomly get asked if I have a ticket, how are they going to fine me. They said it is going to work like a parking ticket. But with a parking ticket, there is a license plate. What if I refuse to give ID or do not have ID. Are they going to call the police to hold me for $2? This has disaster written all over it.
