October 27, 20169 yr :lol2: I can't wait to see how angry it coming to KY would make people. Really, a line to KY would make it substantially more useful for a lot of people and would probably be good for commerce on both sides of the river. But if replacing the BSB has been a non-starter for a decade plus I can't imagine there's any way the street car makes it across the river. MAYBE if the PPB could be requisitioned for that there's a glimmer of hope.

You want this thing to be useful then it needs to go across to KY. Edited October 27, 20169 yr by HammerTime
October 27, 20169 yr Excluding the first 3 days when it was free the avg is slightly ahead of the 3,000/day projection. So let's say half are all day riders and half are 2 hour passes. The average is $1.50. Simple math says they bring in $4,500 in operating revenue per day. What do you think it costs to operate this thing per day?

What do you think it costs to operate this thing per day? $4.2 million a year to operate, so a lot more than that. That was the estimate as well, so it is likely higher.

October 27, 20169 yr Plan on using it this weekend... That will be another $1.00 less the city will have to eat for this disaster LOL
October 27, 20169 yr That will be another $1.00 less the city will have to eat for this disaster LOL Going downtown for my birthday with a large group. Much easier to just hop on the streetcar to head up to Rhinegeist after dinner than it would be for everyone to try to find parking up there.

Much easier to just hop on the streetcar to head up to Rhinegeist after dinner than it would be for everyone to try to find parking up there. For sure, the problem for me is you still have to drive up there anyway and find somewhere to park so it's kinda silly. It's useful going back and fourth between bars. Other than that....

Other than that.... That's the million dollar(s) question: Will the availability of the streetcar bring more people downtown or will it just be a convenience for people who are already coming downtown even w/o the streetcar?
October 28, 20169 yr That's the million dollar(s) question: Will the availability of the streetcar bring more people downtown or will it just be a convenience for people who are already coming downtown even w/o the streetcar? I have a friend who manages a restaurant in OTR, and he is very good friends with the GM of one of the bars nearby. Both are directly on the streetcar line, and both of them say they have seen zero change in business.

Both are directly on the streetcar line, and both of them say they have seen zero change in business. I wouldn't expect different. To me, it's greatest benefit is convenience. If I'm going to OTR, I'd much rather park downtown at the Banks and take the streetcar up then have to deal with trying to find parking up there.

I'll be interested to hear what your experience is with the streetcar.
