NKY Freshmen scores thread

Featured Replies

Scott 10, St Henry 0 in 5 innings. Something I've never seen once happened 4 times at this game. 4 times Scott batters were hit with pitches, and none were awarded 1st base, because they didn't "attempt" to get out of the way.

This happened at a CCH freshman game where the CCH batter was hit 4 times, one at bat was 3 times in a row, and was not awarded 1st base. Must be the same umpire.

Agree but some baseball first kids in the younger ranks. I truly believe that the 7,8,9 ranks have moxie and for more than a few the preferred sport is baseball. I think this group is in for the long haul.

Agree with what you are saying here BB and what Ft. Bronc said in his post. The last few games that I have seen the frosh and JV, I firmly believe that this program is really on the verge of taking off. Just hope that the young talent continues to play the game so that JB and the coaches can reap what they have sewn over the last few years. I personally know of 5 current 8th graders that would be assets to this program in addition to what they already have, but chose not to play for various reasons. All 5 however will be playing this summer and the hope is that next year they have a change of heart and give the high school baseball program a shot.

I think it's pretty ridiculous. And I know how the rule is written, but this should never be called unless the batter intentionally moves into the ball.

Those boys would be an asset to any program no doubt!!

Lykins appears to be doing a good job in his 1st year as Frosh Coach at HHS. Lots of talent in the pipeline.

Talent yes.... Coaching???? Wonder if he would even coach if there wasn't, even though it's small, a paycheck.... Down 2 runs in a ballgame... hard flyball to right... runner on third.... Not one word said about tagging .... Batter did his job... Coach too busy daydreaming with his hands in his pockets... Talent ended up winning the game... Just one example.... Could list many for every game I've been to.

That would be huge for the program. Maybe then, the frosh team can be made up mostly of freshman with a few underclassmen mixed in and they can really start to gel and succeed at the next level. There will be those few that will play up, but I think it's important to succeed at every level, not have to take all your best and load up one team. That's where the numbers game will come into play. I'm pretty sure this is Coach B's plan all along.

WOW! Welcome there Playtowin29! Agree somewhat with your 1st ever post. Very little really. It will be interesting to see your post bashing the kids when they are daydreaming and they don't do what the coach said to do and it ends up costing the "team" the game. But hey, to each his own. Again welcome!

Sorry for the thread jack everybody but somethings just need to be addressed.

Feel free to take your concerns to Coach Baioni instead of a public forum!

Thanks for the Welcome.... Yep.. Playtowin29's first post but not necessarily my first post... Sorry you don't agree... Just stating the facts... It is just frustrating when I hear, both individually and collectively from good ballplayers on and off the field, that they may not play the game anymore and mostly for the same reason... After 25 plus years of donating my time helping kids learn the game, I have witnessed my share of kids AND coaches (and yes, sometimes myself) daydreaming and costing games. You won't hear me "bashing" kids here. They make mistakes and usually learn from them. Instructors that continuously make the same mistakes..... well..... shouldn't be instructors....

Go Birds!!!!

CovCath 2 Highlands 0. Bo Schuh faces the minimum 21 batters in tossing a no hitter. HHS' Kreeger throws 5 strong innings. Congrats to Schuh on a great outing. Highlands plays Lexington Henry Clay in a DH Saturday weather permitting.

A teenage kid would quit because of one coach that they most probably wouldn't have that coach again because they are moving up a level. Nah, not swallowing that one. Sorry! Pretty sure it would be because they are forced fed they are all that from parents or they had a sip of the ole "blue kool aid" or maybe even they like to play in the sand. Either way. it's cool. It's baseball. You either love it or you don't. Let's not blame the coach on a public forum.

Bo is a force. Standing 6"5" on the mound can be overwhelming and be a dominating figure out there. But 2-0 aint bad. Frosh have come a long way. Keep it up boys!

You're right.... I am cancelling my ESPN, stopping the newspaper and rippng the radio out of my car first thing in the morning!!! I would hate to hear anyone being critical of any coaches i.e. Marvin, Dusty, Billy G. even Coach Cal... Hey tell you what... I'll run by the store and get some orange slices to go with your "Blue Kool-Aid" for between games tomorrow. Hopefully we can talk them into not using the scoreboard so nobody's feelings get hurt (Hopefully Henry Clay's).

BTW... If you have to subscribe in order to post to a forum, then it is not a public forum...

Go Bird's Rack up a couple W's from your Lexington foe tomorrow

Don't you think a kid at that age should already know to tag up in that situation?
