Do you retire Anthony Davis jersey?

Featured Replies

At worst Davis is in the conversation for best player to ever put on the UK jersey. At best he is at the top of the list. If that doesn't get you a spot in the rafters, what does???

Nothing else left to say after this post.

Umm, yeah. With honorable mention to his unibrow.

I hear the argument that he will not have played multiple seasons, but college basketball is not the same as it once was. I am not in favor of retiring jerseys unless you were trans-formative, difference maker, dominating on the court, etc. He was there a season and far exceeded anyone's expectations.

Beginning of the season I would have said no way.

He swept the player awards, set records, and brought home a title. It's a no-brainer if you ask me.

So, because he is/was good enough to go to the NBA after one year and the other players with jerseys retired were not, we should not retire his jersey?

I think with what this kid has accomplished, not to mention how he conducted himself with all the attention and accolades, I retire the number. We may never see this type of player again for a very long time.

Typically, I would say no, but considering all that he accomplished and with leading them to the title, it would be hard not to. Players like Davis don't come along very often, regardless of which college team is played for.

I know this won't be popular, but I do not believe any "one and done" player should have his or her jersey retired no matter what college they attend.

So because the player is playing by the rules that are established he should be punished? Yeah, you're right. Not popular.

Not being punished at all. One year doesn't make a "Wall of Famer"! Having a jersey retired should be more than having one good year. Alot of players have had great single seasons but their number has not been retired. Stay in it for the long haul and reap the rewards!!!!

A lot of players have had the most ultimate season ever? He won EVERY award.

What Davis did this season is unprecedented.

In the history of college basketball.

Ever.

But yeah. It was just one year. Screw him...

It's obvious that you have a jaded opinion of one and done players so I won't even bother continuing this discussion. Hopefully UK doesn't consult with you when they have to make a decision.

What rewards did he not reap?

Hard to make a legitimate argument that what he did in one year isn't worthy of this honor. It doesn't matter how long he was at UK, it only matters what he accomplished while he was there. He was simply outstanding and has the hardware (and title) to prove it. Hang that baby in the rafters!
