Carpenter flies to St. Louis to have neck evaluated

Featured Replies

So was he showing up Ryan on the field by starring at him? Ryan, who was traded for a single-a pitcher, was well documented as the team clown whose behavior and constant tardiness on game days ultimately lead the Cards to trade him even though he was so great defensively.

That isn't the only time Carpenter has done this. I saw it last year also. He is an arrogant jerk who has had run ins with teammates, with opponents on the field several times, has whined about field conditions and on and on. Is it important to you that he isn't a jerk?

I don't think either he or the team cares as long as they keep piling up wins and World Championships. I'd love to have him play for the Red Sox and the Reds can only dream of having a jerk like him on their roster.

The jealousy of other teams' fans never ceases to amaze me....

I heard he's gonna be fine. His neck just had some scar tissue from Scott Rolen's hand print from the Reds scuffle a couple seasons ago.

If you are referring to me, no jealousy at all. I like Pujols a lot ... he's one of my favorite players. There really are very few Cardinals I dislike. I root for the Cardinals very often when they aren't playing the Reds. I think Carpenter is a great player and respect him a lot as a player. I just think he is a jerk.

Breaking news: Pujols signs with Angels. :D:D:p

JUPITER, Fla. • Still unable to project their co-ace's return to the mound, the Cardinals nonetheless drew a sigh of relief upon learning Saturday that Chris Carpenter is dealing with a bulging cervical disc rather than a recurrence of career-threatening nerve issues.

"When you're thinking of what could have been some really bad (stuff), we can take care of this and move on," Carpenter said prior to Saturday's exhibition against the Miami Marlins.

who cares!

You are just hiding your true feelings. Why don't you just come out of the closet and admit you do. You must after posting the same thing in several different Cardinal threads.

Carpenter is out indefinitely according to ESPN.

That much arm flapping and I'd have a sore neck too.

JUPITER, Fla. • Cardinals righthander Chris Carpenter today finished four days' worth of diagnostic tests with about a half-dozen doctors in St. Louis to determine the cause and potential treatment for a nerve irritation that has weakened his right shoulder.

The good news is that general manager John Mozeliak, who confirmed the nerve irritation this afternoon, said surgery was “not on the table.”

The troubling news is that there is no timetable for Carpenter's return but he certainly won’t be starting the season with the Cardinals and isn’t likely to be pitching for them for at least a couple of months.

I wonder if Mozeliak has Oswalt on line 1 yet?
